Nepal is the heart of the Himalayas - an outstanding destination for mountain treks, whether you follow well worn paths or go off the beaten track, you will make a life long connection with this amazing country as you walk the trails and valleys. Prayer flags and stunning scenery surround you and the hospitality of the Nepalese people will give you a glimpse into their traditional rural life as you trek through pretty villages, farms and high altitude fields and crops.

As you reach the summits of the massifs such as Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Annapurnas you can visit monasteries and join pilgrims on their trails to the holy Himalayas.

To the north of Nepal is China and to the south, east and west is India with the region of Darjeeling up close to the foothills of the Himalayas, making this an interesting combination holiday destination.

Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and the country is, of course, most famous for being home to Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth and there are more than 240 peaks in this area over 20,000ft (6,096m) above sea level. The fertile and humid areas in the south of Nepal are the most densely populated.

You will be amazed by the awe inspiring Himalayas, the highest mountain range on our planet. You don't have to go hard core and trek Everest Base Camp (though you can if you want!), stay in the gorgeous Kathmandu valley and take part in some classic treks around the Sherpa villages, Buddhist monasteries and if you time it right, the rhododendron forests will be in bloom, a gorgeous sight to see.
Easy going treks and day walks can be done around the foothills of the Annapurnas and on the lower slopes of the Himalayas. Alpine flowers and montane wildlife can be encountered on a holiday to Nepal and a visit to the jungles of Chitwan may reward you with a glimpse of the rare Bengal Tiger.
