Travel to Angkor Wat and Temples of Siem Reap
The Temples of Angkor are some of the world's greatest monuments, their huge scale and sculptures are truly amazing. Dating from between the 9th and 13th centuries, their jungle setting and intricate carvings defy description. The World Heritage Site of Angkor is located between the Kulen mountains and Tonle Sap Lake. The best known temple at Angkor Wat is dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu, built around 1150 AD. Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor and is just 3 km south of the temple complex and although development is inevitable, the city still retains small shops, cafes and art galleries. Leave the tourist areas for a street food tour where you’ll experience market life, hidden food stands and eat like a Cambodian local.

Mekong River & Phnom Penh
On the banks of the Mekong River sits the modern city of Phnom Penh with a mix of colonial culture, green parks and wide streets alongside pagodas, palaces and markets. From the regal elegance of the Royal Palace, through to the thought provoking Tuol Sleng Prison and the Killing Fields, Phnom Penh is a city of contrasts. Take an early evening stroll along the riverside promenade before dining on a Cambodian feast. If you are linking Cambodia with Laos along the Mekong River, stop at Kratie which is a bustling riverside town and the base for seeing the rare freshwater Irrawaddy Dolphins.
Tours to Tonle Sap Lake and Floating Villages

South East Asia’s largest freshwater lake, Tonle Sap is home to a huge diversity of fish and a large number of fishing communities that rely on the bounty of this great lake. A boat trip enables you to witness the unique lifestyle of Tonle Saps residents.
Wildlife of Cambodia
Sadly Cambodia has one of the highest rates of deforestation in the world, but is still home to a wide variety of natural history with 212 mammal species, 536 birds and 240 reptiles. Much of this wildlife lives around the Tonle Sap Lake area which is now a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
In unspoilt natural surroundings the 4 Rivers Floating Lodge offers the ultimate peaceful getaway, in the ancient forests of Cambodia. Located near the border with Thailand 20 minutes drive from Koh Kong City, the village of Tatai is where you will jump on one of the resorts boats that takes you to the lodge, approximately a 25 minute journey down the river.

Culture of Cambodia
The second largest city in Cambodia, Battambang is home to an emerging art scene and some of the finest French architecture in the country. Be sure to ride the Bamboo Train, one of the most eccentric and noisy contraptions you are ever likely to encounter!

Beaches in Cambodia
Cambodia has a fairly small coastline, but some great beaches including Kampong Som about 225 km southwest of Phnom Penh. Song Saa Private Island is a luxury untouched paradise that lies just a 35 minute boat ride from Sihanoukville. Built with sustainable materials and dedicated to local conservation, this opulent beach resort is the perfect sanctuary for total relaxation and perfect for honeymoons.
Song Saa Private Island hotel
is spread across two pristine isles in the Koh Rong Islands. Home to virgin rainforest and tropical reefs, this exclusive resort offers luxury at harmony with the natural unspoilt surroundings. Blending with the environment, this is an eco-luxury resort complete with thatch and stone villas scattered throughout the jungle canopy or perched on stilts above the sea. Expect 'rustic chic' with decadence and a thorough commitment to sustainability. Each of the villas offers ocean views and private pools.

The extra touches such as the four-poster bed, Moroccan lanterns and native tribal statues add character. The resort is set in a remote location that is bordered by clear waters with a jungle interior and therefore needs to be pretty self-sufficient. The restaurant serves an array of delicious cuisines, and you can expect organic ingredients and flavours of traditional Cambodia infused with Thai specialities. One of the most impressive credits to Song Saa is its commitment to the protection of the environment. Situated in a self-made marine reserve which measures one million square metres and is the first of its kind in Cambodia, the resort has a team of marine biologists, recycling and waste initiatives, and is involved in sustainability projects in nearby villages.
When to travel to Cambodia - The dry season runs from October to late April. Humidity is at its highest between March and April.
