Overview & Highlights
Sail through 130 years of history on the newest ships on the Norwegian coastal route — silently and comfortably – with Havila Voyages.
Enjoy a new type of cruising with the most environmentally friendly ships on the Norwegian coast. Havila Voyages ensure minimum impact on the environment while still providing an exceptional cruise experience.
The ship sails for 12 days (you can board for 2-12 days); visiting 34 ports, starting in the city of Bergen. Covering 2,500 nautical miles it travels all the way to Kirkenes.
Norway offers magnificent, dramatic wild natural surroundings and a strong culture, a shared history dating from the days of the Vikings, a cosiness in its valleys and pastures, brightly-painted wooden houses, folk tales and mythology, world-class art, literature and music in the works of Munch, Ibsen and Grieg, to name but three.
Northern Norway sits mainly within the Arctic Circle, and is the land of snow and ice, endless tundra, red-painted houses of fishing villages, the land of the midnight sun and the eerily mystical Northern Lights.
Along the coast near Narvik are the idyllic Lofoten Islands, with craggy peaks, inlets and fjords, fishing villages and farms. Svolvaer is the gateway to the Lofoten Islands and from here you can visit the charming villages of Reine, Stramsund, Ballstad and Nusfjord.
The main town of the northern region is Tromsø, situated about 186 miles inside the Arctic Circle and the place from where Amundsen started his polar expedition.

Havila Voyage Spring in the Fjords
Embark on a springtime Havila voyage from Bergen to Kirkenes, and experience a breathtaking voyage as the country awakens from its winter hibernation.
Visit some of the world’s most beautiful fjords, cross the Arctic Circle and sail around the North Cape plateau, at the very top of Europe, during the daytime.
Combined with a night in Bergen, one of Norway’s most vibrant cities where we recommend exploring the picturesque Bryggan with its iconic tilted houses and concealed maze of wooden walkways, as well as a stay at the iconic Snow Hotel in Kirkenes featuring intricate snow sculptures, raw and diverse landscape with tundra, mountains, dense pine forests and beautiful lakes.
To avoid disappointment, we advise you to pre-book all Havila excursions and activities.
- Day 1: Fly from the UK to Bergen for the first night of your Norwegian adventure.
- Day 2: We recommend a stroll through Bryggen, Bergen’s atmospheric Hanseatic old town located on the harbour front, where you can also find some of the freshest seafood around at the Torget Fish Market. There are plenty of museums on offer, or escape the city on the funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for sweeping views of the fjord-side city and the seven mountains that famously surround it. Board your Havila ship in the evening. (B, D).
- Day 3: After the first night on board, sail into Ålesund, renowned for its art nouveau architecture with beautiful brick houses and warehouses. In the summer, you can continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Geiranger Fjord, with steep mountainsides and dramatic waterfalls. (B,L,D)
- Day 4: Explore Trondheim, Norway’s 3rd largest city with many museums or galleries, or visit the impressive Nidaros Cathedral which is the largest medieval building in Scandinavia. Other sites of note are the Archbishop’s Palace which houses the crown jewels and Stiftsgarden, the oldest wooden palace in Scandinavia. (B,L,D)
- Day 5: Today your voyage crosses the Arctic Circle and continues onward into the Arctic regions. The natural world surrounds you and visit northern Scandinavia’s largest glacier, the world’s strongest tidal current and encounters with the majestic sea eagle. In the evening, Lofoten’s fishing villages, steep mountains and Vikings await. (B,L,D)
- Day 6: The voyage continues on through narrow fjords and past wild mountains to Tromsø, a city characterised by hunting and fishing, polar expeditions and courage. It is also the home of the Sami, Norway’s indigenous people. (B,L,D)
- Day 7: Today sail as far north as you can get – by land and sea. For many, the visit to the North Cape is a high point and a goal for voyages along the Norwegian coast. (B.L.D)
- Day 8: You are now as far east on your voyage as you can go. Say goodbye to the ship and transfer the Snow Hotel , Kirkenes for one night. (B,D)
- Day 9: Transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK. (B)

A few impressions…
“Huge thanks for the trip you organised for us to Norway for my wife’s surprise birthday present, all arrangements worked perfectly. On our very last night whilst dog-sledding, the clouds cleared and we were treated to the Northern Lights display we had waited for!”
