Oman, could be consiered the most beautiful of the Gulf States, with rich culture and ancient heritage waiting to be discovered during this one week cultural adventure. Starting in the capital of Muscat, be amazed by the Grand Mosque, wander through the colourful Mutrah Souq and see the Omani capital and coastline through seafarers’ eyes on a traditional dhow cruise.
Spend a night deep in the desert and navigate the dunes of the Wahiba Sands in 4x4s; marvel at stunning views over the Grand Canyon of Arabia from Jebel Shams, the highest mountain in Oman; wade in the cooling, turquoise waters of an idyllic desert oasis and uncover historic forts before witnessing the weekly live auction cattle market in Nizwa, an event not to be missed!

“Oman is full of wonders! We visited Bait Al Zubair Museum, the Sidab Women’s Association where we interacted with the local women and enjoyed a coffee and dates together. We embarked on a relaxed dhow cruise to see the Muscat coast through the eyes of the ancient seafarers who plied this route for centuries. We wandered through endless alleys of the bustling, colourful Mutrah Souq market and ended our day with copious amount of amazing typical Omani dishes. The smells, the colours, the sights, we’re in awe …

I bought my first souvenirs: frankincense and a burner for it and absolutely amazing oud incense. My home back in the UK will smell like Arabian nights!
We visited the biggest Mosque in Oman the chandelier weighs 10 tonnes and is made of Swarovski crystals! Our next stop was the Bimah Sinkhole – a limestone crater with blue-green sea water at the bottom where we could swim, incredible!
We were driven out to Ras Al Jinz Turtle reserve where we saw turtles laying eggs then covering them up with sand and returning to the sea, we saw hatchlings and dancing crabs, spectacular!
We went to the most beautiful Wadi in Oman, oasis of Wadi Bani Khalid to relax and enjoy a swim in the beautiful turquoise pools. Absolutely breathtaking.
My highlight of the trip after an amazing trip over the dunes to our desert camp and watching the sunset.

- Day 1: Arrive into Muscat and meet your tour leader and group membedrs. Afternoon dhow cruise and visit Mutrah Souq
- Day 2: Visit Muscat’s Grand Mosque; onto Sur via beautiful Wadi Shab. Evening visit to turtle reserve
- Day 3: Drive to Wadi Bani Khalid, swim in the turquoise pools and enjoy a picnic lunch. Continue to Wahiba Sands and explore the spectacular dunes. Overnight in the desert.
- Day 4: Morning visit to a Bedouin family and enjoy Omani coffee; visit Birkat al Mouz and walk through its oasis and date plantations; onto Nizwa
- Day 5: Transfer to Jabrin, one of the finest castles in Oman; stop at historic Bahla Fort; enjoy a walk and picnic lunch in Wadi Nakhr. Visit Jebel Shams for amazing views
- Day 6: See the Nizwa cattle auction, fort and souq; continue to Nakhal Fort and hot spring; back to Muscat for final evening
- Day 7: Depart to the airport (or extend your stay)

“We had an amazing week full of cultural adventures in such a fabulous and welcoming country – Oman, which we knew little about. The itinerary was jam-packed with activities and sightseeing. Each day was full of magnificent views, smells and delicious food. Throughout the week we travelled through cities, desert and mountains, so we could savour a bit of everything Oman has to offer.
The highlights of the trip for us were: an adventurous drive in 4×4 through the dunes of Wahiba Desert, watching the sunset in the desert and staying in an amazing Arabian Nights resort there; visiting the spectacular Grand Mosque in Muscat and swimming in the turquoise pools of Wadi Bani Khalid in the desert oasis.
The trip was perfectly organised each day from early morning till evening, our local guide Zubair was very knowledgeable, friendly and amusing. We were truly blown away by the beauty of Oman and we definitely want to visit it again.
