Overview & Highlights

New England is made up of six states in the northeast of the USA: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

With New York nearby, a holiday around New England can also start and end in Boston or Washington (the cities can be linked by rail).

From the fascinating maritime culture, lobster shacks and boutique arts and crafts of the coast, to the beautiful colours of the fall throughout the mountains, lakes and farms, two weeks is never enough to fit everything in!

This is one itinerary suggestion covering the ‘classic’ New England route, but all holidays will be tailor made to suit your personal interests and requirements. Choose your type of vehicle and different accommodaiton locations.

“New England’s coastline is a haven for artist colonies, world class museums, national parks, fishing harbours & sweeping sand dune flanked beaches. We will make sure your itinerary is set at a pace to allow you time to soak up all that this beautiful region has to offer “

New England is famous for its glorious colourful leaves in ‘The Fall’. This is best experienced between mid-September until November. A kaleidoscope awaits you as billions of leaves change from green to all colours. The air is crisp and cool and farm stands are piled high with autumnal local produce.

The climate in North Eastern USA is similar to the UK, with summers being a bit warmer and mountain regions can receive rapidly changing conditions, where snow often falls in winter – spring.

  • Day 1: Fly to Boston for 3 nights
  • Days 2 – 3: Step back in time and walk the Freedom Trail at your own pace. Take a Duck Tour for a different view of Boston by land and water and visit Faneuil Hall and be overwhelmed with the choice of food available at Quincy Market.
  • Day 4: Pick up your car and drive to Cape Cod for 3 nights
  • Days 5-6: Experience Whale watching from Hyannis from May through October or take the ferry for a day trip to Martha’s Vineyard, a quiet haven for the rich and famous. This is just one example of a holiday to New England. We try to use traditional small hotels and ‘Inns’ which offer the history, home cooked food and local hospitality which the region is famous for.

“We watched Baseball in Brewster and visited the open air cinema in Wellfleet. There was amazing history to Portsmouth, eye watering mountains in Conway and we took a trip on the Conway Scenic Railway up into the mountains – spectacular.
Boston is a place of contrasts old and new, we took a trip round the bay and ate the most wonderful cannoli from the Italian quarter in the North End district!”
