November sees the start of the long awaited 'short rains' in Zambia and most of East Africa ... this is a lovely time to travel to Africa, with the ground refreshed, grass starting to appear again and many animals starting to have their young. South Africa is getting warmer and the Western Cape is again popular especially Cape Town - self drives to the Garden Route in particular. Or head over to Kwa Zulu Natal and combine the Battlefields with a safari and the beach, maybe combing with stunning beach lodges in Mozambique.

Still a good time for Madagascar and the East African Indian Ocean coast, plus Seychelles, Maldives and Mauritius (though it can be a little rainy, still nice and hot). Peak season starts in Australia and New Zealand and winter sun destinations such as Canaries, Caribbean and South East Asia start to get busy again. It is a lovely time to visit Arabia including Oman with it being the perfect time to visit the coast where humidity is low and it is prime time for turtle nesting activity; if you time it right you may see turtles burying their eggs, or baby turtles hatching and making the dangerous journey from land to sea. Al Maha desert camp is a stunning location to watch the stars and explore the conservation area around Arabia and combine with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

November is one of the best months to visit the north of India – it is not as hot or humid as other months and is one of the driest months in the year. Plus, one of the most famous festivals is held in Pushkar – the camel fair. One of the largest in the world, this fascinating spectacle runs for five days, when around 50,000 camels and cattle are brought to trade. Camels are dressed up, raced and entered into beauty pageants, while traders themselves can enter competitions such as ‘longest moustache’! Cricket matches are played between the local club and tourists, while markets sell jewellery and material – adding to the colour and variety of this amazing festival. Goa is also a favourite for beach holidays and early winter sun in November. Spa and boutique hotels can be found along the beautiful coastline.
Northern Lights sightings are usually great from October to March and November is a good time to go (if you are not fussed about other snowy activities as much of the deep snow doesn't appear until later in December). Take in the hot springs and geysers of Iceland on a long weekend or travel across the Arctic Circle into northern Norway. The Lofoten Islands are a stunning remote location to spot the Aurora. You can also travel to Europe for city breaks to Christmas Markets in late November.
It’s a great time to visit Chile, Argentina and Brazil, as November brings warm temperatures and little rain and the cities are not yet too hot or humid. In Central America, Mexico is great in November with the Riviera Maya having a warm climate and boasts some of the best beaches and coastline in Mexico with a laid back atmosphere. A dream destination for those who don’t want to commit to an entire holiday on the beach but don’t want to forgo any relaxation time as the jungle provides plenty of things to see and do. Stay at Tulum, full of breathtaking Mayan ruins with beautiful sea views from its cliff top and of course luxurious spa’s never more than a few steps away. Other Caribbean destinations start to open again towards the end of the month.
