Wilf Graham – Zimbabwe (Sept 2016)

I felt like the King of Scotland again!  Another amazing holiday to Africa .. thoroughly enjoyed everything in Zimbabwe and already want to go back again! I did the 25 minute helicopter flight over Victoria Falls and enjoyed walking around the falls and the parks surrounding the site.

African Bush Camps (who you arranged the safari with), were superb, the food was amazing, particularly the picnic lunches and the brilliant home made sausage rolls and quiches!  The five nights spent in Hwange had the best wildlife sightings. Kanga Camp was also fabulous with a great waterhole in the camp. In Mana Pools I got up very close on walking safaris to a pack of wild dogs and saw “Boswell” the 50 year old elephant who stands on his back legs to feed!  The five nights at Somalisa was amazing – I went to the school and village where I taught them how to tie knots effectively on their stock fencing! I also did 7 hours working with them on their annual game count.

Back in Harare for the first time in many years I enjoyed returning to Miekles Hotel … where I played the piano in the bar (and found out after one of the staff came in that the reason it sounded a bit odd was that they use the inside of the piano to store their newspapers!    So …. another fantastic African safari – let’s plan a return to Zimbabwe soon!
