Croatia – Trevor & Pat Smith (Sept 2016)

Overall we loved Croatia, thank you for arranging it all, we enjoyed all the different locations, everyone was very friendly and all the connections, transfers and ferries went well (including the ferry between Hvar and Korcula which turned back as it had a problem, where we were off loaded, a new ferry was quickly sent from Dubrovnik and we were on our way again, all very efficient!).

The hotels were of a mixed standard and locations but perfectly good for our needs. The Hotel Palace in Trogir is a bit old fashioned but the location good. Hotel Park in Split was about 15 minutes walk from the main city but there were some very good restaurants nearby on the seafront. If you wanted to go up to the castle there are highly recommended restaurants up at the top of the hill. Generally, food was very well priced but some of the local wines were over priced, you need to look out for what they charge as the glasses tend to be very small! The Podstine Hotel in Hvar was fairly basic (but clean) inside but the outdoor areas were beautiful. Hvar is very ‘trendy’ with lots of beach bars and cocktails but we enjoyed it all the same. Korcula was lovely, very relaxing and were we to pick somewhere for a relaxing week, this would be our choice. The Korsal Hotel was lovely and we enjoyed their BBQ night with traditional seafood.

Dubrovnik was packed – There were five cruise ships in whilst we were there but the locals said they had seen over 12 at a time in the summer! Our hotel the Hilton Imperial was perfect. A fabulous location just outside the old city walls and very luxurious with stunning views. Thank you for organising our tailor made holiday to Croatia – we will let you know when we next need help!
