Olafsson Family – Skiathos villa (June 2019)

We have just spent a wonderfully relaxing week at Villa Mare, Skiathos. It was our first family holiday with a seven month old baby and we couldn’t have chosen a better villa. Actually, credit should go to Mags at Travel with Jules who introduced it to us and then booked the whole holiday (villa, flight and car rental) – it couldn’t have been easier for us!

The location is perfect, with the most amazing views over Skiathos Town and the infinity pool is just fab!

Villa Mare feels secluded and yet it’s only a short drive from Skiathos Town and the airport. We explored parts of the island and ate at several of the many restaurants near the harbour but we loved using the villa’s outdoor barbecue area to grill locally bought meats and seafood, which were easily washed down with Greek wine and beer!

There is a big eating area by the barbecue but we preferred to sit on the large, shaded balcony in the evenings where the twinkling lights of Skiathos made for a very romantic backdrop.

We were 5 adults and a baby (three generations) but the villa can sleep 8 people. It is spacious, well laid out, comfortable and very well equipped, including a washing machine and dish washer; in fact, it had everything we needed, even a blender for baby Rosie’s food!

Villa Mare is air-conditioned throughout so when it got too hot outside we were able to cool off in the large open plan living/dining/kitchen area.
The airport is nearby but flights do not detract and cause no disturbance at all.
We all loved Villa Mare and would recommend it without hesitation. In fact we’d love to be back there right now!
