Italy – villa and Rome tours – Angus family (Oct 2016)

Service from Travel with Jules was first class! You guys were great and helpful and patient…. All very good on the organisation side of things. The chef at the villa produced lovely food and the weather was great. The couple of trips into Rome itself went really well (travelled in by train and TWJ arranged a private city guide to look after 3 generations of the family). The swimming pool was lovely and it was nice that they kept it open for us – we did get a couple of days use out of it. There was also lovely games room and bikes we could use so that the wonderful grounds (20 acres) could be enjoyed!

Taking the trains to and from Rome worked OK…. VERY cheap but not always punctual trains. However warn people that in Italy now the guards on the train seem to be like mini hitlers and we got fined for NOT endorsing our tickets before boarding one time….. we bought and paid for the tickets but in the small print on the back it said you had to endorse them in the ticket reader (for some reason) before boarding the train….  we thought it a bit much fining a tourist for not knowing such a thing… anyway ce la vie!

Top tip for Rome and the Vatican…. wear comfortable shoes – DONT go in the height of Summer and be prepared for lots and LOTS of queues and walking!

Rome and the tours…. I really cannot recommend Tomasso and the drivers enough…. all the Rome tours went without a hitch. He was SO knowledgeable and friendly and worked VERY hard to keep everyone happy…. BIG BIG crowds, sweltering heat (in the Vatican), a grumpy 2 year old toddler and a doddery 78 old lady …. he kept everything together and talking us through it all in perfect English! He was able to squeeze everything in to each and every last second for us so we got out monies worth. Thanks Tomasso – you were perfect!
