Day 1 ARRIVE BEIJING
Arrive in Beijing and enjoy a night in a hotel, free of charge to give you chance to explore this fascinating city.
Day 2 BEIJING
Spend the morning at leisure before enjoying an afternoon city tour of Beijing. Marvel at the beautiful Temple of Heaven which was constructed and built between 1406 & 1420 during the reign of the Yongle Emperor, who was also responsible for the construction of the Forbidden City. Witness the enormity of Tiananmen Square, the fourth largest city square in the world and a site with great cultural significance, being the site of several important events in Chinese history. See the Tiananmen Gate, a gate in the wall of the Imperial City, which was built in 1415 during the Ming Dynasty. (B)
Day 3 BEIJING
After breakfast, head out to discover some of Beijing’s greatest sights on a tour to the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs. Standing at over 5,000 miles long and dating back to the Ming Dynasty, the Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China. Marvel at the ancient and beautifully preserved Ming tombs, a collection of mausoleums built by the Chinese Ming dynasty emperors as a final resting place. Collectively known as the Thirteen Tombs of the Ming Dynasty, the site near Beijing was chosen and based on the principles of feng shui by the third Ming dynasty emperor. Tour the site and experience Chinese history up close. (B)

Day 4 BEIJING TO MONGOLIA
This morning, visit the Forbidden City in the centre of Beijing. Now housing the Palace Museum, the Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty (1420 to 1912), serving as the ceremonial and political centre of Chinese government for almost 500 years. At over 180 acres, the Forbidden City consists of 980 buildings and exemplifies traditional Chinese palatial architecture. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987 and is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world.
Later, travel to Beijing railway station and embark on the first leg of the Trans-Siberian adventure. (B,L,D)
Day 5 GOBI DESERT
Awake in your train compartment to the sight of the magnificent Gobi Desert. Marvel at this vast landscape while enjoying breakfast onboard, before arriving at the border and changing to the private train, the luxurious Tsar's Gold. Visit Erlian, an important border town for trade that houses a colourful market whose 527 vendors sell silk fabrics, furs and other commodities. Stroll through the market before boarding the Tsar's Gold and travel towards Mongolia’s capital. (B,L,D)
Day 6 ULAANBAATAR
Today, enjoy breakfast onboard before arriving in Ulaanbaatar and disembarking the train. Transfer to a hotel and check in for one night before taking a tour of the city, visiting sights including the Choijin Lama Temple. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Mongolian music performance. (B,L,D)

Day 7 ULAANBAATAR
Visit Gandan Monastery and the Mongolian Alps, known for their stunning rock formations. Lunch in a yurt is followed by a demonstration of Mongolian horsemanship and wrestling. Spend the night in a Mongolian Ger (Yurt), a large circular tent and a distinctive feature of life in Central Asia for at least three thousand years. (B,L,D)
Day 8 ULAN UDE
After breakfast, board the Tsar's Gold and continue the Trans-Siberian journey through the valley of Selenga before arriving in Ulan Ude where the train joins the Trans-Siberian Railroad. Enjoy a guided city tour before resuming the journey. (B,L,D)
Day 9 LAKE BAIKAL
Arrive at the old station of Port Baikal. Enjoy a short boat ride on the lake and if the night is warm, a picnic dinner will be served on the shore before re-boarding the train. (B,L,D)
Day 10 IRKUTSK
Check in to the Irkutsk hotel for one night and enjoy a tour of the city including the lively market hall. An afternoon excursion to the open-air museum gives an insight into bygone Siberian life. (B,L,D)
Day 11 EASTERN SIBERIA
Continue through Eastern Siberia with its mountains, crystal-clear rivers and verdant slopes. On board, enjoy caviar and vodka tasting. (B,L,D)
Day 12 NOVOSIBIRSK
Pull into Siberia’s largest city and enjoy a traditional Russian welcome of bread and salt. Embark on a city tour and admire views of the Ob River before the train continues westwards. (B,L,D)
Day 13 YEKATERINBURG
Stop in the capital of the Ural Mountains and enjoy a short tour of the city centre to discover the newly erected Cathedral-on-the-blood. (B,L,D)
Day 14 KAZAN
Arrive in Kazan, the old Tartar capital on the backs of the Volga, and enjoy a guided tour of the city. The city’s Kremlin is a highlight, with a colourful mishmash of architecture dating from the 16th to the 21st century. (B,L,D)

Day 15 MOSCOW
End the train journey in Moscow and check in to the hotel for one night. Visit the Kremlin with its glorious cathedrals and enjoy an evening city tour including Red Square. (B,L,D)
Day 16 MOSCOW TO UK
Continue the sightseeing in Moscow with a guided city tour before transferring to the airport for the flight back to the UK. (B)
