Rocky Mountaineer Rail Journeys
There are many options for journeys on The Rocky Mountaineer, the most popular being between Banff and Vancouver. This route travels through the amazingly engineered 'corkscrew tunnels' of the Rocky Mountains. As a bonus, keep an eye out for wildlife along the way!
Each of the journeys showcase the diverse beauty of Canada's West. Furthermore each one can be done in different directions. In addition it is possible to extend your rail journey through adjoining networks.

The First Passage to the West
First Passage to the West is named after the pass over which it crosses. The train commences its journey in Vancouver and traverses the Canadian Rocky Mountains. It includes an overnight stop in Kamloops before reaching its final destination of Lake Louise or Banff.

Rocky Mountaineer's Journey Through the Clouds
Journey Through the Clouds. This journey begins in Vancouver and follows the same legendary journey to Kamloops and includes an overnight stop. After that, it takes the higher route through the scenic valleys and the Canadian Rocky Mountains to a final destination of Jasper.

Rainforest to Gold Rush Journey
Rainforest to Gold Rush, is the longest route. This is a three day journey, commencing in Vancouver. Day one follows the Sea to Sky Corridor to Whistler, where an overnight stay is enjoyed. Day two follows the Mighty Fraser River to Quesnel for a second overnight stay. On day three the train climbs through the Rocky Mountain Trench and the Cariboo Mountains to its ultimate destination of Jasper.

Coastal Passage The Coastal Passage route hugs the Pacific Coast shoreline between Seattle and Vancouver, before travelling east into the beautiful Canadian Rockies.

Car or campervan hire can be enjoyed throughout Canada. A popular option is to fly to Calgary, see the sights, hire a car and drive through to Banff and Jasper and on to the Rocky Mountaineer to Vancouver. Perhaps then extend with another car hire, maybe over to Vancouver Island, or to add on another epic road trip head south to Seattle and down the Pacific Coast to California!
