Motorsport Holiday Inspiration
15 March The opening race of the F1 season is 'down under' in Australia at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne. The race has been held here since 1928 and is in a great location for a holiday to include fine wines and great food!
22 March Then the teams head to the Middle East and the Grand Prix of Bahrain
5 April New for 2020 is the exciting addition of Vietnam where the race takes to the streets of Hanoi. Vietnam is one of our most popular holiday destinations.
19 April Next it's back to Asia and the China Grand Prix in Shanghai- if you go all that way why not visit iconic sites such as the Great Wall of China or add a trip to see Giant Pandas!
3 May F1 returns to Zandvoort for the Dutch Grand Prix after a 35 year gap. Visit The Netherlands by train, coach or air.
10 May The Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya is the most popular testing track for drivers off season. Combine this event with a fabulous Barcelona city break. Until Fernando Alonso became world champion in 2005 the Spanish hardly ever watched formula 1, now an average 10 million tune in to watch!
24 May Monaco is probably the most popular short haul motor racing holiday with the fabulous Monte Carlo street circuit bordering the coastline full of yachts belonging to the rich and famous! The Loews hairpin is the slowest corner in F1. It is a slow, twisty circuit but always a highlight of the grand prix calendar.
7 June 2016 saw Azerbaijan added to the Formula One calendar, with capital city Baku playing host to what claims to be the fastest street circuit of the season, this year later in the season than usual.
14 June The Canadian Grand Prixis at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and the streets of Montreal are full of parties and fans centred around the Rue Ste Catherine. The circuit was created using rock from the buildling of the Montreal metro on the Island of Notre Dame in 1965. Combine this race with a holiday to Canada around Quebec and Ontario or cross this vast country by train to the Rocky Mountains and Vancouver!
28 June The French Grand Prix at the Circuit Paul Ricard at Le Castellet in the south of France.
5 July The Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg was new to the race calendar in 2014. Combine with a walking holiday in the mountains or the cities of Vienna & Salzburg.
19 July British Grand Prix has been held at Silverstone since 1950, making it the home of British Motor Racing. At the end of the second world war, the RAC joined up the runways and taxiways of the airfield to create this track!
2 August The Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest is set in a small valley at the Hungaroring. A tight a twisty circuit, the surrounding hills provide great viewpoints for spectators. This is an ideal city break holiday to Budapest (both Jules and Mags have been there so contact us for details!).
30 August The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps is home to the most talked about corner in F1. The Eau Rouge is technically demanding and the race is in a picturesque location in the Ardennes forest. Combine with a long weekend in the land of beer and chocolate!
6 September the Italian Grand Prix is at the world famous and fastest track in the world, Monza. This is a fabulous place for a culture and food break to Milan and the Italian Lakes. Visit Mr Acquati's Memorabilia and Book Shop next to the track for motor racing souvenirs.
20 Septmber Back to Asia for the Singapore Grand Prix on the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Daylight is replicated on public roads as the F1 takes place at night here. There are two bridges used on the circuit to cross harbour canals.

11 October Heading east again next is the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka circuit near Nagoya. Combine this with a holiday to Toyko and the highlands and explore this fascinating country. (Or if you want to visit the summer Olympics in Japan contact us asap as availability is limited!).
25 October Back to the Americas for the last of the seasons races, with the Grand Prix of USA in Austin, combine with a self drive around Texas and the southern States.
1 November Another race added in recent years is the Mexico Grand Prix on the refurbished track from the 60s and 70s which saw exciting historic races. Combine this with some sun on the Caribbean sea or a cultural tour around Mexico.

29 November The Yas Marina Circuit, home of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was home to the first F1 twilight race in 2009. It is built on the man made Yas Island and is an Arabian high speed version of the Monaco circuit. All the grandstands here are covered to protect spectators from the hot desert sun. There is a five star hotel straddling the track. (Jules has been to this race - it's a fabulous experience!)

In addition to the Formula 1 events, one of the most popular dates in the motor racing calendar is the Le Mans 24 hours. This race lasts 24 hours and is actually four races which run simultaneously in four different classes of car. No single driver can race for more than 14 hours in total. There are a range of accommodations for this unique event, including camping at the Airtrack Village, we can book you trackside hospitality, travel options including ferry and hotels and official event tickets. The track at Le Mans is 8.59 miles and the race was first held in 1923.
