The luxury of this exclusive private house can be enjoyed with sweeping views of the diverse Waterberg region in South Africa. Overlooking the Palala Valley, the 12,000 acre estate covers rugged rocks, bushveld savannah, natural streams and pletiful wildlife. This is one of only a handful of reserves which are completely private, giving your group sole use of the entire estate and all it's amazing facilities. (If you have a large group there is the original 'camp' not far from The Observatory which can accommodate more people in the reserve.
The Observatory is a unique African experience! It is a stone and glass house with luxury copper features, the most outstanding of which is the huge dome housing a research grade observatory. This of course makes it a prime choice for keen Astronomy travellers! Tucked under the dome is the two storey library with an open fireplace. The house accommodates a maximum of 9 people (6 adults, 3 children) with 2 luxury bedrooms and luxurious bathrooms with baths, showers and massage beds. A triple bunk room leads to a separate guest room for a nanny - this self contained nursery space has a separatee bathroom and kitchenette. All furnishings have been custom made with local materials by experienced craftspeople from African communities.
The amazing expanse of the main living area allows guests maximum enjoyment of the view. Sit by the fireplace or dine under an emmense hippo skeleton chandelier! There is a mezzanine level above which has entertainment space for TV or games. Outside, the deck with a covered veranda leades to a heated infinity pool which blends in beautifully with its natural surroundings. For a 'James Bond in the Bush' experience, take the flight of stairs leading to the sunset deck for a drink, where you can soak in the Jacuzzi whilst looking at the stars (all on no timetable and with no intruding strangers!).
Food and drinks are looked after by a renowned gourmet chef and butler and special activities include thermal imaging equipment for night game viewing, 4 quad bikes, 2 x 700cc racing quad bikes and an insane Polaris off road buggy! All to use in your own time .. If you want to add to the sounds of the bush there is a multi room music system, target shooting (overseen by an experienced ranger!) or for a quieter experience, there is excellent bass fishing in nearby dams. A starlight safari with local astronomer Dr Phil Calcot will leave you spellbound as he points out the planets and stars with a high powered laser pointer. The estate's private helicopter can be booked for airport collections of for a chopper ride to see wildlife from above.
