This is a small group adventure holiday with groups normally between 4 - 12 people plus your tour leader and local guides. Minimum age is 18. You travel by light aircraft, 4wd jeep, canoe and motorboat. This trip visits remote areas sometimes with limited access to facilities. Accommodation is all en-suite but hot running water rarely available and limited electricity.
Summary itinerary
Day 1 Fly to Georgetown, Guyana.
Day 2 Morning fly to Kaieteur Falls, explore then fly to Iwokrama River Lodge.
Day 3 Early morning boat trip on Essequibo River, climb Turtle Mountain to enjoy birdwatching and views, visit Kurupukari Falls in the afternoon and Amerindian village.
Day 4 Morning wildlife walk; afternoon drive to Iwokrama Canopy Walkway with possible jaguar sightings; evening canopy walk.
Day 5 Full day for birdwatching.
Day 6 Dawn on the walkway then look for Cock-of-the-rock; drive to Amerindian village of Surama; night walk in forest.
Day 7 Morning climb to Surama Mountain lookout point for spectacular views; afternoon walk to Burro Burro River to search for Giant river otters, Tapir and Spider monkeys.
Day 8 Drive through savannah to Rock View Lodge, with excellent opportunities for birding.
Day 9 Dawn hike in the foothills of Pakaraima Mountains to spot forest-dwelling birds; later visit Amerindian villages and see cashew nut roasting.
Day 10 After breakfast drive alongside mountains and through savannah to airport; fly to Georgetown.
Day 11 Depart Georgetown.
Day 12 Arrive London.
