ITINERARY
DAY 1 — ARRIVE TAIPEI
Arrive Taipei. Transfer to the hotel and check in for 2 nights. The rest of the day is free to explore at leisure.
DAY 2 — TAIPEI
After breakfast, take a Taipei city tour including Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall and The National Palace Museum which exhibits 5,000 years of Chinese Imperial art and jade collections. Afterward, visit Marty's Shrine of traditional architecture and The Taipei Handicraft Centre before a photo stop at the Taipei 101 skyscraper. (B)
DAY 3 — TAIPEI TO SUN MOON LAKE
This morning head for Lukang, stopping at Sanyi woodcarving village for a photostop en route. At Lukang, browse the market and old streets before continuing to Sun Moon Lake which is situated 762 meters above sea level in the lofty mountains of Central Taiwan. This lake is famous for its clear, sparkling blue water set against a picturesque mountain backdrop. Visit the famous Wen Wu Temple and enjoy the scenic views of the lake. Overnight at Sun Moon Lake. DAY 4 — SUN MOON LAKE TO FOGUANGSHAN
Head to Tainan, the ancient capital of Taiwan and its oldest city. Here, visit Chikan Tower and the Confucius Temple, which dates from 1666. Proceed to Foguangshan Monastery the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. Overnight at Foguangshan Monastery. (B)
DAY 5 — FOGUANGSHAN TO CHIHPEN
In the morning, proceed to Foguangshan Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan and visit the main shrine and Buddhist museum. Here you can choose to have a vegetarian lunch at the monastery. Continue to Chihpen and check into your hotel for 1 night before enjoying the remainder of the day relaxing at a natural hot spring. DAY 6 — CHIHPEN TO HUALIEN
Depart Chihpen and head to Hualien. Drive north along the east coast. The coastline is covered with fossils of unusual shapes and sizes. Continue to Dulan, a small, peaceful coastal town located 20 km north of Taitung, on the east coast. Dulan boasts awesome coastal scenery, one of the quietest stretches of beach in Taiwan and a thriving local art scene. Pass by Tunghe Bridge, where you might see wild monkeys on your way to Sansientai, a unique scenic area comprised of small offshore islands and a coral reef coast. Drive on to East Rift Valley National Scenic Area and enjoy views of green farm fields stretching off to the mountains. Check into the hotel in Hualien. The rest of the day is free to explore at leisure. (B)
DAY 7 — HUALIEN TO TAIPEI
Today, visit The Taroko National Park featuring the Taroko Gorge, an exceptionally beautiful, narrow ravine created by the Liwu River cutting deep into the mountains of solid marble. Stop at the Eternal Spring Shrine, one of the major picturesque points of the park. Next, head to Swallow Grotto, a gigantic grotto of karst formations. Later, check out The Tunnel of Nine Turns-a tortuous river course produced this gorge of many curves before heading back to Taipei via Su-Hua Highway and stop at the Chingshui Cliffs.(B)
DAY 8 — DEPART TAIPEI
Transfer to airport for onward connections. (B)
