South East Asia and Sri Lanka are great places to get up close to Asian Elephants. There are few of these wonderful animals in the wild any more but they have been domesticated for centuries, used in logging, religious festivals and are now very much part of the culture of this part of the world.
In southern Thailand there is a wonderful world of tropical jungle to be explored. If you are looking for a genuine 'elephant experience' where the animals are well cared for and you can get close to them and spend time in the rainforest this is perfect. Ideal for family holidays and easily reached from Phuket to combine with a beach break this 3 night itinerary really is the trip of a lifetime for many people! See testimonials on this page for clients who experienced Elephant Hills booked through Travel With Jules. (Note: we can now create anything from a 1 night to a 4 night visit)
Elephant Hills is both a Unique and unusual place to stay and a Bucket List experience!
For an unforgettable eco-experience, venture away from the tropical beaches and into the rainforest. Khao Sok National Park boasts the largest area of tropical rainforest in southern Thailand, with jungle-clad peaks, large lakes and an amazing variety of flora and fauna - perfect for the wildlife enthusiast!

A two hour drive from either Phuket or Krabi airport, it is an easy combination with any of our suggested beach resorts in Krabi, Phuket or Khao Lak. You’ll find Elephant Hills hidden amidst this awesome natural scenery. Split into two separate camps: the Elephant Hills Camp comprises of 30 simply furnished tents surrounded by jungle; the Rainforest Camp is located on nearby Cheow Larn Lake and features 10 floating tents. This is comfortable camping, with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold water and electricity powered by solar and wind energy!
Elephant Hills Camp offers the opportunity to get up close to the Asian elephant. You’ll learn about this magnificent animal from their mahouts (elephant trainers), feed them, clean them and watch them bathe. With animal welfare in mind, you are not able to sit on or trek with the elephants.

It’s not just about the elephants! You can explore the jungle on guided treks and canoe along the Sok River. After spending a night in the Elephant Hills Camp, journey onto the floating Rainforest Camp, where you can swim in the lake and kayak through its channels in search of monkeys and birds. A night at Elephant Hills just adds to the adventure. Watch the sunset over the jungle from the front of your tent before heading to the restaurant where you can share your day’s experiences with other guests over dinner. The rainforest’s inhabitants provide an atmospheric concert as you doze off to sleep.
