This is based on the following hotels:
Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok
The Mandarin Oriental is award winning, elegant and stylish, and enjoys a superb riverfront location on the banks of the Chao Phraya. Within the immediate area you have a selection of shops and the main shopping centres are a 15 minute drive.
Raffles Hotel, Singapore
Maybe one of the most famous hotels in the world, Raffles Singapore is an institution conveniently located in the heart of the city. Boasting colonial grandeur and a guest list to rival that of the Queen of England’s garden party, choosing this hotel means you will be keeping good company. From its beginning in 1800 to today, distinguished guests such as Rudyard Kipling and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have made this hotel their home in Singapore. Offering 103 suites across six different categories, the feel is colonial and sophisticated. Each suite embodies a hardwood floor, large shuttered windows affording views out across the courtyard, gardens or city, plus a range of amenities to ensure your stay is comfortable. Singapore has a wealth of attractions to offer, and the hotel’s convenient location allows guests to easily explore the city. When you want to stay in there is plenty of dining on offer, from a steak house to contemporary French dining. The Long Bar is the birthplace of the famous Singapore Sling, and no trip to Singapore is complete without trying one of these. Beside the lobby, The Writers Bar pays tribute to the literary geniuses that have walked through its doors, including Noel Coward and Rudyard Kipling.
The Peninsula, Hong Kong
One of the grand old colonial hotels of Asia, The Peninsula is unsurpassed in traditional style, with the addition of modern leisure facilities. It boasts the only functioning heli-pad in the city, along with its own twin engine helicopter for ‘flight-seeing’ excursions. Transfers by land are also available, with its fleet of 14 Rolls Royce Phantoms. The rooms are all tastefully decorated and include air conditioning and spacious bedroom, with views of Kowloon, the courtyard or the harbour. Facilities include a number of restaurants and bars, including a rather trendy rooftop restaurant and a very impressive indoor Roman bath-style swimming pool.
