China Scenic 13 Days from £2248
Discover China’s contrasting areas of the North, South and West. This tour takes you on an memorable journey starting in the illustrious capital, Beijing, taking in all the must-do sights including the Great Wall. See the Terracotta Warriors in Xian then explore the stunning landscape and natural beauty of the Southern province Guangxi. After spending several days seeing the Giant Pandas and the magnificent Leshan Buddha in Chengdu, take your direct flight home.

Day 1 London Heathrow to Beijing You will take a scheduled flight from London Heathrow to Beijing.
Day 2 Arrive Beijing (D) Upon arrival, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel for a 3 night stay. In the afternoon you will have time to relax or take a walk in the surrounding area. Your guide will be pleased to advise on what you can do at your leisure. In the early evening your guide will escort you for dinner where you will meet your fellow group members.
Day 3 Beijing city tour (BLD) In the morning you will visit the Temple of Heaven – this was the place where the Ming and Qing emperors worshipped the god of heaven and prayed for good harvest for the year, where you can observe the tradition of practicing Tai Chi in the courtyard. This will be followed by a stroll through Tiananmen Square, one of the largest city squares in the world. Finally, a visit to the Forbidden City which served as the grand imperial palace for centuries.
Day 4 The Great Wall (BLD) Today will begin with a visit the Great Wall at Mutianyu, a post along the wall which offers all round stunning views and a less crowded atmosphere. Mutianyu was built in the mid-6th century and its rich history can be observed in its unique construction. In the evening there will be a sumptuous Peking Duck Dinner, a traditional delicacy in Beijing.

Day 5 Beijing city tour and to Xian (BLD) In the morning visit to the Summer Palace, which includes a grand collection of lakes, gardens and palaces where you can expect lovely views and walks. Afterwards, you will have a chance to enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the beautiful Kunming Lake. This will be followed by a stop at the Birds Nest Stadium and Water Cube, which hosted the 2008 Olympics. Following an opportunity for photographs, the final stop of the day will be at the Hutongs. Here, you can expect a more personal insight into the everyday life of traditional Beijing citizens. Finally, you will catch a flight to Xian.
Day 6 Terracotta Warriors (BLD) Today your guide will take you to visit the Terracotta Warriors, a stunning collection of ten thousand life size statues of the Chinese army made over two thousand years ago, yet preserved almost perfectly. This will be followed by a visit to the ancient city wall in Xian in the afternoon, which can be enjoyed through a peaceful stroll or a bike ride. It is the most complete city wall that has survived in China, it is one of the largest military defensive systems in the world. This evening you will try a dumpling dinner while enjoying the Tang Dynasty Show, a colourful performance of traditional music and dance.
Day 7 Xian city tour and to Guilin (BLD) Today, you will visit to the Shaanxi museum which houses over a quarter of a million artefacts on display, including treasures from many periods of China’s history. The next stop, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, will explore China’s unique architecture style. Visit the Muslim Quarter to see local life in the community. Finally, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Guilin.

Day 8 Li River cruise and Cormorant Fishing Show (BLD) You will be transferred to Zhujiang quay for a four hour boat cruise on the breathtaking Li River towards Yangshuo. On the Li River, there are opportunities to enjoy the tranquil rural scenes of buffalo farming the rice terraces, children playing in the river and the towering karst mountain peaks. Arrival will be at around 14:00 in Yangshuo. In the evening, you will see the fascinating cormorant fishing show.
Day 9 Yangshuo and Yulong River (BLD) Your morning is at leisure. In the afternoon, our guide will take you for a pleasant walk along the Yulong River to visit the local families in the countryside. An optional choice of activity this evening is to view the spectacular ‘Impressions of Liu Sanjie’ show. Different from other shows that take place in an enclosed space, this one is actually staged in the Li River itself!
Day 10 Reed Flute Caves and to Chengdu (BLD) Visit the Reed Flute Caves, a remarkable collection of colourfully illuminated stalactites and stalagmites. Afterwards your guide will take you to Fubo Hill and Elephant Trunk Hill, where you can enjoy panoramic views. In the afternoon you will be transferred to the airport for a flight to Chengdu.
Day 11 Leshan Buddha (BLD) A full day excursion to the magnificent Leshan Buddha a 233-foot tall stone statue, built during the Tang Dynasty. The Buddha is carved out of a cliff face that lies at the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers near the city of Leshan, and it is the largest stone Buddha in the world. You will also visit the ancient town of Huanglongxi.
Day 12 Giant Pandas and city tour (BLD) After breakfast, the first stop will be at the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Centre, just 6 miles from downtown Chengdu. Here naturalistic habitats have been created to provide the best possible environment for rearing and breeding pandas. In the afternoon, you will have a city tour to visit Jili Street and Kuanzhai Lane, to see local people’s life.
(NOTE - This day can be replaced with a full day at Panda Valley being 'Keeper for a Day' for a supplement of £210 per person for the volunteer day).

Day 13 Fly back to London (B) Transfer to the airport for your flight back to London Heathrow.
This group tour will typically use 4 Star Hotels or properties of a similar standard if those listed are not available. All rooms are equipped with a double or twin beds, private bathroom facilities, air-conditioning, heating, TV’s, telephones and WiFi as standard.
There is also a 'Cruise and Pandas' tour which also includes sightseeing in China but with the addition of a Yangtze River Cruise
