The Palio is actually about tradition, pageantry, corruption and thuggery. But all of those things make for an amazing experience. Jules also got us seats at one of the Contrada dinners the evening before– this I would describe as essential if you want to get a real flavour of the Palio atmosphere.

Elephant Watch Camp is lovely ... While 'sleeping out' with the warriors I spent the night listening to cattle munching around my tent!!

Spanish Christmas at Parador La Gomera

A Tale of Two Swallows

Have you ever marvelled at the bird migrations which cross continents? Here is a story about two swallows who would follow their 'home' anywhere!
The scenery was stunning! Blue lagoon was very enjoyable. We had an amazing 'tasting meal' at a restaurant in Reykjavik full of Icelandic treats. Our Guide was good, and we walked to the edge of the glacier and visited the black sand beaches.
