October to April is the best time to visit Nepal and India. If you want to see tigers and visit the parks in India, they open up again in October, it’s also the time of several festivals including the biggest party in India, the festival of lights, Diwali! Tailor made holidays in India are very popular in October, why not travel by train for some of your journey?
For the October half termfamily holidays, much of the Med has closed so you should head to either Turkey,Cyprus, The Canaries or a little further to Oman or the Emirates both of which are great in October. Turkey offers some wonderful family hotels and stunning villas along the Bodrum peninsula and Turquoise Coast. Cyprus is open all year but stick to the area around Paphos if you want to make sure the restaurants are still open. Kefalonia, Corfu, Rhodes & Crete still have direct flights in October and have a host of historic sites and empty beaches to explore. Head to Romania and Bran castle for Dracula festivities during Halloween!
In Africa, the migration starts to leave the southern Kenya Mara plains back into Northern Tanzania, and it’s a good time to climb Kilimanjaro! It’s the end of the dry season in much of Africa and scorching hot in places like Zambia and Botswana but game viewing on safari can be spectacular as predators gather around shrinking waterholes. Malawi is lovely in October especially on the lake where the breeze keeps you cool. South Africa is hotting up nicely too – head to Cape Town and the winelands for fabulous food and drink and the end of the spring flowers in the northern cape.
This trip was going to tick off another 4 new States for me making 49 so far (only Hawaii to do … next year, I hope!). Everyone was so friendly and welcoming! A first for me was staying in small bed & breakfast accommodation … I loved it! As usual, the worst bit was having to come home and it’s HUGE thank-you to Mags and Jules for organising another memorable trip.
We had a fabulous time in New England, loved it! The original Cheers Bar was brilliant and our meal there was excellent. Some amazing drives and view points from Woodstock and Manchester. We explored all of Cape Cod and the amazing deserted beaches. The highlight was seeing whales from Race Point Beach lookout! Thanks for all your help and looking forward to our next adventure.
The holiday was just incredible and couldn't have been any better in our wildest dreams. Thank you for all your assistance and your genius in putting this itinerary together for us to perfectly match what we wanted. Giraffe Manor was exceptional and even now feels like we were in a dream. It was great to know that every step of our holiday was taken care of including visiting our fostered elephant and meeting the last male Northern White Rhino on the planet.
Had a great time with my brother and his family at Al Aqah thank you! They upgrade us and we had our own little wing of the 19th floor! The hotel was excellent. Great quality of food. The beach front restaurant Gonu was great for us. Proper 5 star service. I strongly recommend you book everyone on the dine around all inclusive as paying directly for drinks was ridiculously expensive!
Service from Travel with Jules was first class! You guys were great and helpful and patient…. All very good on the organisation side of things. The chef at the villa produced lovely food and the weather was great. The couple of trips into Rome itself went really well, the guide was a real star! The swimming pool at the villa was lovely and it was nice that they kept it open for us.
Italy – villa and Rome tours – Angus family (Oct 2016)
Everything was really terrific, I think we enjoyed India even more this year than last time and Jawai Leopard Camp was simply wonderful! Thank you to you, Nikhil and his team so much for another fabulous holiday to India!
Another amazing family holiday - thank you so much! Al Aqah Beach Resort was gorgeous, couldn't do enough for us and the food was really good, being able to dine around on the all inclusive you booked for us was a real bonus. We loved our upgraded apartment and the facilities and would highly recommend this hotel, we may well return!
So thanks, Jules and Magsie, for your thoughtful suggestions, for your hard work making all the bookings, for fixing our one problem while we slept, for finding us more time to do more, and for saving us money. It was truly a holiday of a lifetime.
Kristen, Julia and Mimi Busch-Hansen – USA (Oct 2015)
America was terrific, excellent music and absolutely extraordinary history and intriguing places to stay, we enjoyed every stop but have become great fans of the B&B venues. I would recommend them all, so thanks for organising those, we'd have missed them if left to our own devices. Eye opening "Southern Hospitality"
What can I say ... you did it again! I loved every minute of my Kenya adventure. The Born Free Foundation anniversary safari was superb. We spent loads of time with Virginia McKenna whilst at Elsa's Kopje, she was full of 'hidden facts' about the lives of the Adamsons and I really enjoyed her company. Amboseli was fabulous. In Nairobi I enjoyed my visit to Daphne Sheldrick's Elephant Orphans and seeing my adopted baby later in the afternoon. So thank you again for your superb organisation and personalised 'conservation' based safari, I'm retiring soon so look out I will be travelling even more!
The Alamo car hire which Julie had sorted on arrival into Ottawa was fantastic – free upgrade to a Jeep! Great to see the Parliament building – recommend a tour round (and it’s free!) Great views from the top! The drive to Toronto was great you can check out the St Lawrence river. Had to head […]
We would like to express our appreciation for the organising of the wonderful holiday to India. We were looked after like 'Sahib and Sahiba' from our arrival until our departure! A huge thank you to yourself and Nikhil at Western & Oriental for our experience of a lifetime.
Thank you to Travel With Jules for co-coordinating our rail and accommodation arrangements for our rail holiday to France and Italy – I would have no hesitation in recommending you to any of our friends requiring similar help. All rail bookings were as requested and documentation clear. In particular the Turin/Rome, Rome/Napoli and Napoli/Rome train journeys […]
Ian Brown & Family (from Australia) – Rail Holiday in Europe (Oct 2014)
I just wanted to write you an email thanking you for organising our ‘Route 66’ holiday. We had the most fantastic experience and it was all we wanted out of our weddingmoon and much much more. I could spend hours telling you about some of the unscripted experiences that I had such as a very […]
Sam and Alex Drohan – Route 66 ‘Weddingmoon’! (Oct 2014)
I cannot thank you enough for your help in putting my recent trip to Canada together - everything was so easy for me. I will be singing your praises to everyone and would certainly like to travel more by train in the future myself. Thank you again.
The arrangements you set up were impeccable. From the moment I walked through arrivals at Delhi airport until departure ten days later, everything went without a hitch and took all the hassle out of being a single traveller.
I can’t praise Dinknesh Tours enough – they went out of their way to look after us and we had a fabulous wildlife guide. Particularly enjoyed the Simian and Bale Mountains and the Gelada Baboons. Bale Mountain Lodge was lovely but the rest of the accommodation (and generally throughout Ethiopia) is very basic and not […]
Julie arranged a holiday for my husband and I to England, Norway and Iceland. A few months before the departure, I broke my ankle. It was uncertain whether I would be able to walk at the time of the holiday. Julie investigated all options, including cancellation and changing the dates. Eventually we decided to go […]
As usual the whole organisation, choice of hotel, resort and weather was impeccable. And you arranged for Vesuvius not to blow it's top whilst we were there. So that's another item ticked off the list: I am amazed I've finally seen Pompeii and particularly Herculaneum. We don’t do holidays that are so relaxing that we really, REALLY, DON’T WANT TO GO HOME! AND IT WAS ALL YOUR FAULT......
How fortunate we were to find Travel With Jules by chance on the internet, and most of all how refreshing to find someone who truly cares about clients and goes the extra mile in providing a superb service. Julie was exceptionally generous with her time, answering all our questions often communicating out of office hours, including checking that everything was going well whilst we were actually on holiday.
Ray & Kay Ward – Singapore, Australia & Bali (Oct 13)
I set Jules the challenge to find us a family holiday for October half term, somewhere in Asia. A stickler for detail and high standards, I was after luxury, comfort and culture. We had an incredible 10 days in Thailand, a wonderful holiday which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you Jules!
Just back from Jordan & Israel - a brilliant holiday. We had a fantastic time and never at any stage was there any doubt about the arrangements. We greatly appreciate all the hard graft you put in to make things happen for us, and the planning with you and expectation of things to come doubles the pleasure of the experience.
One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
The Corfu Trail is a self-guided walking holiday to the location of ITV’s popular television series capturing the life of naturalist Gerald Durrell and his family during the 1930’s on this traditional Greek island.
Sleep in a treehouse feeling the sea breeze looking out over the leafy canopy to the ocean beyond …. An authentic castaway experience with romantic rooms built around huge ancient Baobab trees, on a tiny island in the Indian Ocean.
Watch the ever-changing landscapes of Russia, Mongolia and China roll by from your comfortable cabin, enjoy vodka and caviar tasting on board and make regular stops to discover the highlights of this classic route.
Cape Town is a superb destination with a fantastic selection of amazing places to stay. From the waterfront and vibrant Kloof Street through Camps Bay down to the peninsula, fabulous food and wine with a dramatic backdrop of Table Mountain.
