Bespoke Horse Riding Holidays are a great way to experience destinations, getting exercise at the same time! There are rides to suit all ages and experiences, ranging from day trips – or just a few hours – pony trekking to advanced trails lasting for a week or more for experienced riders.
We can arrange horse riding for you in most parts of the world but there are a few that stand out as the best options for those seeking a specialist riding holiday. In Africa, horseback safaris are a wonderful way to experience the wildlife at the same level, many wild animals let you get much closer to them on hooves than in a vehicle!! Top African countries for riding holidays are Botswana, Kenya or South Africa. But riding can also be arranged in Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia or even Tunisia.
North America is world famous for the huge cattle ranches and wide open spaces of Wyoming and Montana for example. Here you can stay on a ranch (see White Stallion Ranch as an example) or take expeditions out through the country, camping along the way. Arizona, Colorado, South Dakota and California are other great options. New in 2014 was Mustang Monument in Nevada a wonderful experience and horse sanctuary. Canada is also home to some fabulous ranches an of course the world’s largest outdoor rodeo – the Calgary Stampede!
Down under, Australia and New Zealand offer a different type of riding holiday with amazing scenery and beach rides amongst options here. South America and the high Andes are home to many skilled horse riding communities – join them camping out in the mountains and visit local villages along the way.
Closer to home Europe has plenty of great horse riding holiday options. Spain has famous mountain trail and beach rides, in France or Italy you can ride through the wine valleys and sample local cuisine along the way! Hungary, Bulgaria and Iceland are all interesting options to consider.
Most horse riding holidays involve joining small groups but if you want a tailored tour, please ask us and we can arrange bespoke horse riding just for you. There are also options on some tours for ‘non riders’ if you have a mixed group and not everyone rides, they can travel with support staff by vehicle or in Africa, join other travellers on drives and walks while your friends go riding.
We had the most fantastic time ever in South Africa! Horizon Horseback Adventures were brilliant and we would highly recommended to others. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they really looked after the guests. The horses were all well cared for and fantastic to ride. The food was brilliant and everyone was so friendly. […]

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
