City breaks

City Breaks & Luxury Hotels –  Tailor made travel

Make the most of being so close to Europe –  there are fabulous cities just a short hop away from us, full of history, culture and sight seeing.  Wining and dining is one of the main attractions with the superb culinary delights of top restaurants within easy reach. Whether you prefer museums and galleries, shopping malls, cafe culture, music or spas, there are cities to suit everyone.

Many cities can be reached by train so you don’t even have to fly or drive if you don’t want to and for a special treat try the Venice Simplon Orient Express!  Explore European cities including Florence, Paris, Prague, Budapest or Bruges or what about a river cruise?  A fabulous way to link cities is by river cruise, wind your way down the Rhine or the Danube for example, taking in the city sights along the way. Scandinavia has a host of fabulous cities to be explored including Oslo, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki. Head for Amsterdam to enjoy the network of canals, flower gardens, museums and plenty of cycling and clogs!

Holland-windmill-and-tulips

In the winter book a cosy, luxury hotel in the mountains of France, Switzerland or Italy for starters.  Marvel at the sparkling lights of the mountain towns at night while you sip on your mulled wine and enjoy a pot of fondue next to a log fire.  Christmas markets are great for retail therapy in November and December in destinations such as Munich, Lille, Frankfurt or Copenhagen.

Iceland-Reykjavik-winter

In Spain head for Barcelona for a vibrant mix of culture, culinary delights and the coast or inland to the capital Madrid with it’s low key cafe culture and sunny squares and gardens.  South to Seville and a city break here involves a feast of tapas bars and sherry tasting! Portugal has some lovely cities – combine Porto and Lisbon connecting the two by train through rural landscapes and historic villages.

Spain---Andalucia---plaza-s

Combine your city break with culture – there are fabulous concerts, festivals, ballets, theatres and food extravaganzas in every season, time your visit to coincide with a special event or sporting event.  City breaks combine well with Grand Prix weekends, Beer festivals, Christmas markets or foodie fiestas to name a few!

Of course you could take your city break further away – long weekends in New York or Moscow are popular too.  Or add on some city time to a long haul holiday, stop over cities such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai and Bangkok are all worth a look!

Hong-Kong---Excelsior-roof

Ask us about last minute city breaks, there are great offers for 2 or 3 nights by rail or air to cities including Prague, Rome, Brussels, Venice and more – we can get great rates on all European city breaks, or include a city break on the way to or from another tailor made holiday?

Thank you for your organisation of our holiday to Rome and Sorrento. All ran very smoothly ! Locations of both hotels was good. Too many highlights to mention here but we saw such amazing sites in Rome and then loved visiting Pompeii via the local train . We were happy we took your advice and only stayed in Rome for four nights, more would have wiped us out!

Bruges is very interesting city. Enjoyed a boat trip. Also going to Ypres for the Menin Gate ceremony at 8.o.clock. Very moving.

It was amazing and everything went like clockwork. The highlight was Noes Nest. I can't really describe how good it was. Breakfast was immense with such variety, taken in a large kitchen round the table with whichever guests were up at that time. The property is is a good area only 10 minutes from the city centre via the DART (tube), with loads of cool shops and bars within walking distance. It really was perfect. Alcatraz was immense. So in summary you nailed it again!

Is there anything that could be done better? Can't think of one thing… All went seamlessly – no hitches just a great short break at a brilliant location. The choice of hotel was spot on (quiet in its environment) and our hosts were fab to boot… Choice of hotel, the advice given in terms of when to travel – it was VERY early but that meant more time in Venice! And Venice itself. Glorious. Simply Glorious.
Steve & Annya – Venice (March 2017)

Thank you for your organising our last minute city break to Palermo we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. The junior suite at Hotel Quintocanto was worth the extra and you couldn't ask for a better location. We understand that the reason for the cancellation for our return flight was indeed strike action in Italy. We commend yourselves and the operator for how you handled the change to plan.
Carol & Chris – Sicily (Feb 2017)

Service from Travel with Jules was first class! You guys were great and helpful and patient…. All very good on the organisation side of things. The chef at the villa produced lovely food and the weather was great. The couple of trips into Rome itself went really well, the guide was a real star! The swimming pool at the villa was lovely and it was nice that they kept it open for us.

Overall we loved Croatia, thank you for arranging it all, we enjoyed all the different locations, everyone was very friendly and all the connections, transfers and ferries went well. Our hotel the Hilton Imperial in Dubrovnik was perfect and all the locations were very different, we loved Korcula best of all.

If you’re considering seeing the Palio in Sienna (and you should) you must go for a few days before, and at least one day after. It is an extraordinary event that has its feet firmly placed in the Middle Ages, The Palio is actually about tradition, pageantry, corruption and thuggery. But all of those things make for an amazing experience. Jules got really good seats for us – the terraces is where it’s at. Then there’s the drums, the flags, the roaring oxen, the colour, the noise – an incredible time WILL be had! ..... But get stuck in – because they haven’t arranged it for you, and they won’t wait for you to join them!

We had a brilliant weekend, staying at the Angelo by Vienna House Hotel in Katowice - plenty of walking, sightseeing & a wee bit of drinking! We would definitely recommend you and give you a 5 star service rating! Everything was brilliant, especially having information about exactly which bus to take from the airport to the Hotel and at which stop we needed to get off – very helpful indeed.

Thank you again for your help in organising our Easter family holiday to the Al Waha Shangri-La - the early check in and requests for facilities in the room for our baby worked perfectly! The VIP meet and greet at the airport on arrival took the stress out of arriving in the heat with 3 children and highly recommend it!
Cole Family – Oman (April 2016)

Great time had by both of us, lots to see and find interesting, some bits not as good as others but none bad! Enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere at Tanjong Jara and meeting Chef Ann!! Great holiday, good memories, and thank you as ever for arranging it and for rapid responses to my emails even whilst travelling. Here's to the next one!

Just a quick email to say thank you so much for organising our lovely relaxing holiday to Thailand. All the transport worked well and the hotel on Koh Samet was just what the doctor ordered. Le Vimarn Cottages was a very quiet resort which was lovely. Banyan Tree Hotel in Bangkok was perfect - the moon bar on top was amazing well worth the very expensive G&T!
Sally Watts – Thailand (Feb 2016)

Thank you for our tailor made holiday to Cambodia and Vietnam (with Dubai stop over). You listened to what we wanted and made the changes to our itinerary as requested. The ground agents were fantastic, the guides were always on time and everything was organised very efficiently. There were many fantastic sights and experiences. Halong Bay was a particular favourite of mine.
Malc, Sue, Tony and Karen – Indo China (Jan 2016)

As Tenerife disappeared into the haze we watched a pod of dolphins dipping in and out of the wake of the ferry, before spinning away to the open sea. Winding paths, potted ferns, bright greens, wild plants encroaching from and spilling over the cliff edges, lizards, butterflies, bees, pomegranates and date palms.....

Thank you for booking our Christmas Market River Cruise holiday to Germany, we had a really lovely time. The staff on the boat (MPS Rotterdam) and our cabin (Promenade deck) was lovely and the food was out of this world! The best markets were in Bonn and Rudesheim.

Another amazing family holiday - thank you so much! Al Aqah Beach Resort was gorgeous, couldn't do enough for us and the food was really good, being able to dine around on the all inclusive you booked for us was a real bonus. We loved our upgraded apartment and the facilities and would highly recommend this hotel, we may well return!

You found fabulous hotels that met my specification in fabulous locations, booked them and arranged train tickets and flight tickets then sent these to my elderly mum so she was confident of our itinerary and travel arrangements.

Our holiday in Venice, taken to celebrate David’s 70th birthday, and arranged with great care by Travel with Jules was quite wonderful. We loved every moment of the performance of La Traviata which we attended at La Fenice - the cherry on the top of the holiday cake.

We have used ‘Travel with Jules’ twice now over the last 2 years (last time to South Africa) and have been absolutely delighted with the very friendly, personal and efficient service which Jules has provided. Jon Dailey – Iceland New Year’s Eve (Dec 2013)
January 3, 2014

As usual the whole organisation, choice of hotel, resort and weather was impeccable. And you arranged for Vesuvius not to blow it's top whilst we were there. So that's another item ticked off the list: I am amazed I've finally seen Pompeii and particularly Herculaneum. We don’t do holidays that are so relaxing that we really, REALLY, DON’T WANT TO GO HOME! AND IT WAS ALL YOUR FAULT......
Ian & Cathy Furbank – Italy, Sorrento & surrounds (October 13)

Our holiday to Disneyland Paris was FANTASTIC!!! We all enjoyed it very much, even my in-laws. The boys were tired out the whole week. The hotel (Disney Santa Fe) was perfect as it was all based around the film 'cars' so Lightening McQueen was everywhere. The food vouchers were great value for money as most of them were all you can eat buffets so perfect for the 8 of us as we all like different food. Thanks you so so much for your help in booking the holiday, and accommodating all the family and the different channel crossings.
Dreher Family – Disneyland Paris (April 2013)

Our honeymoon to Estonia, Helsinki and St Petersburg, was simply wonderful! So many great experiences, many of which we never expected, which was even better! The best city for us was most definitely Tallinn, closely followed by St Petersburg. Sailing across the Baltic on a sea of ice is something we'll never forget either! St Petersburg was superb. Hotel location was spot on. All in all, I hope you get the feeling that we had the time of our life! By far the best holiday we've ever been on exactly what a honeymoon should be and hassle free... The planning and prep that you put in to it meant that we didn't have to worry about a thing! All that's left to say is THANK YOU and we've already recommended you to our friends for future trips.
Clare & Shaun – Baltic States (February 2013)

Thank you for organising our trip to New York. We did all the main attractions, Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, Chrysler building. Loved the hustle and bustle of Time Square. Had a horse and carriage ride round Central Park, and had a meal in the Boat House Restaurant in the Park. The highlight of the holiday was the Niagara Falls day trip you booked for us, it was absolutely amazing. I would recommend it to anyone. It seems a lot of money but worth every penny. I will happily recommed Travel With Jules and your services to anyone.
Jackie Cadman – New York (September 2012)
October 15, 2012

Everything on our trip worked out absolutely perfectly which is essential when you have a group of 11 cyclists covering long distances each day. Julie was very good at communication with all of the details so that we could ensure all of the group were properly briefed. If we were to do another group trip we would certainly use Julie.
Holdoway Cycle Group – Danube from Source to Budapest (September 2012)
October 15, 2012

Thank you for organising our recent trip to USA, all flights, transfers and the hire car arrangements ran smoothly! In New York the 48-hr Hop on, Hop off bus was excellent. The night tour was a bonus and the boat around Statue of Liberty was the best way to do it given the huge queues for the boat that landed at the Statue of Liberty We enjoyed the sights around New York and Washington. The hotel in Washington was ideally located. Thanks for all your help with organising our trip for us - I would definitely ask for your help again!
Nicky Fussell – USA (July 2012)

Not only was she able to get me the direct flights I wanted on the days I wanted which I had not been able to do, she was also wonderfully efficient in providing information regarding hotels using the criteria I had given her. I can heartily recommend Julie’s work, nothing is too much trouble for her and she seemed to be available 24/7 too!
Sue Hall – New York (March 2012)
March 27, 2012

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
