Adventure

Adventure holidays – solo travel and group tours

Adventure …. everyone has their own idea of what that is!  Any kind of travel can be an adventure, something out of the ordinary, maybe out of your comfort zone or it could just be something that you have always wanted to do.

Early years of exploration, discovery and expeditions around the world have created a whole wealth of opportunities for the modern day traveller.  If you want to follow in the footsteps of early travellers ask us about polar expeditions, the Silk Road across Asia, trans-Australian train trips, how to cross the USA by rail or road, travel the Americas north to south or Africa from Cairo to Cape Town. Whatever you want to do, we can find a way for you to do it – challenge us to find you your particular adventure destination!

Long haul expeditions can still be taken, if you have up to a year to wander off, we can book you on an overland tour from London to Australia!  If you prefer to fly, ask us about round the world air fares and stop offs for adventures along the way, hiking, cycling holidays, diving, mountain climbing, kayaking, riding elephants and camels, dodging traffic in a rickshaw or camping out under desert stars ….. you might want to incorporate some volunteer work in your long term adventures too. Travel broadens your mind and your horizons, when you adventure off the beaten track you meet people from all sorts of backgrounds – incorporate some culture into your adventure holiday.  Stay in local villages in South East Asia, help with community projects in Africa, sleep in a Yurt in Mongolia, camp in the Australian outback and meet Aboriginal people, learn how to cook in an Italian farmhouse or Spanish hacienda, sleep under the stars with the Bedouin tribes of the Sahara … the list is endless!

Egypt-Pyramids

South America offers plenty of adventure travel from the high Andes mountains and Atacama Desert through Chile, Bolivia and Peru with it’s ancient Inca civilisations which can be hiked and explored, to the tropical Amazon rainforests and pristine swamps and mountains of Venezuela and Guyana, teeming with wildlife and inhabited by little known tribes people. Across North America, adventure into the wilderness and explore the many national parks with stunning scenery and hiking trails or become a cowboy on a ranch in Montana or Wyoming and enjoy an adventure holiday in the saddle!

Mustang---Tipi-Village

Africa oozes adventure!  From sleeping out under desert stars to trekking the rainforests of Uganda and Rwanda to find the Mountain Gorilla, there are never ending thrills to be had. Climb Kilimanjaro and stand on the roof of Africa, paddle a canoe through Botswana‘s Okavango Delta or learn about the flora and fauna of Zambia‘s parks on a wonderful walking safari. Explore West Africa with it’s vibrant, colourful culture and music in Gambia or Senegal or experience world class diving in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Mozambique or Rodrigues.

Closer to home, adventure travel can take you all around Europe on a never ending list of exciting destinations.  With access now easy by rail or road as well as by air, explore the rivers and mountains of the heart of Europe, hiking or cycling along the Danube, the Rhine or through Bordeaux for leisurely sightseeing staying in local guest houses meeting people along the way, trek the Alps, Dolomites or Pyrenees or the desert landscapes of Cappadocia in Turkey.  The Greek islands, Cyprus, Sardinia and Corsica all have excellent walking holidays options as do those destinations along the Adriatic Sea such as Croatia or Albania. Kayaking, canyoning, abseiling or horse riding are all adventure options that are readily available around Europe.

R66-Mckenzie

Adventure travel often includes the wildlife and natural history of our planet, Jules’ specialist areas!  Take a look at the natural world and Africa safari pages for inspiration on wildlife adventures.  Whether you want to travel the length of the Amazon river, swim with whale sharks, eyeball a mountain gorilla or trek remote rainforests of Borneo or Madagascar, we can find the best way for you to do it, to suit your time and budget.

Dubai---Al-Maha-camels

I booked my trip in the UK through 'Travel With Jules' to avoid having to send large sums of money to a foreign bank account. Using a UK agent obviously adds to the cost, but I considered it well worth it for financial security, and certainty that there would actually be someone waiting for me when I stepped off the plane. I visited Lobeke National Park and Sangha Lodge in Dzanga Sanga National Park. Amazing sightings of forest wildlife including elephants, lowland Gorillas, sitatunga, Mangabeys, forest hogs and stunning bird life.
Andrew Sneddon – Cameroon & CAR (Feb 2017)
March 30, 2017

Just to say thank you very much for organising my travels to see my family and changing my return flight when I needed to. Everything worked out very well . Coming back from New Zealand was the quickest I have ever done and helped a lot with the jet lag.
Mary MacKinlay – New Zealand (Dec 16 – Mar 17)
March 28, 2017

The trip was amazing! Everything went smoothly - pre travel we received great service from Travel With Jules - Timely communication, great information. All worked well. Nellim Wilderness Lodge was amazing. The staff and the Nordic reps (Katie and Chloe) were fabulous with the children. If I had to pick two highlights it would be the Husky sledging and the Northern Lights.
Hogan Family – Lapland (Dec 2016)
December 27, 2016

Thank you again for your help and support with organising the trip. It truly was spectacular and such an amazing place. The aurora display we got on the 3 nights in Dawson was out of this world at times the entire sky was filled above us and no lens would have been wide enough to capture it
Yukon and Alaska – Mark Tolcher (Aug-Sept 2016)
October 5, 2016

We are back safely and rested after an AMAZING holiday to Namibia. We had such a lovely time. The whole trip was perfectly planned and it went really well - so thank you. Everything was a highlight! The self drive was great. Being back in Africa - the landscape, the animals, the people. We had time together - that was the best of all, thank you. Service rating excellent! You were flexible and patient when our plans/ needs changed. You were always accessible and helpful.
Namibia self drive – Conn Family (Aug 2016)

I’m currently in the process of visiting all the States of the USA and this trip was going to tick-off Alaska as number 45! All my other trips have been on a Harley or in a 4x4 (all recent years have been booked by Travel With Jules) so when a train trip around part of Alaska was suggested, this was going to be a new experience. I was a little apprehensive that each leg of my journey (5 in all, approx. 120 miles each) was going to take about 4 hours but the scenery in Alaska is spectacular and time flew by. Alaska is HUGE and so beautiful that I want to go back to see more of it. Probably my favourite State! … Thanks Jules and Mags for organising a most memorable trip.
Jon Dailey – Alaska (June 2016)
August 10, 2016

What a wonderful trip. Holiday of a lifetime. I can't thank you enough Jules and Mags. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and we will certainly book another trip with you. It was awesome. You are awesome.
Violet & Craig – USA Route 66 (May 2016)
May 27, 2016

As always you did everything to such a high standard (We wouldn't expect anything else from you though!!) Where in the world can you visit a zen garden in the morning and meet with the head resident priest for a chat, see a very large cat being walked on a collar and lead through the bamboo groves and see the craziness of a robot cabaret........... that would be Japan!!!! A massive thank you to Jules and Mags for yet another fabulously arranged holiday. If you're thinking of going to Japan then book with Travel with Jules, the organisation is excellent, the information you receive is comprehensive and very detailed, you can't go wrong.
Sarah & Jeremy – Japan (April 2016)
May 30, 2016

Excellent driving infrastructure and incredibly good value for money. In hindsight we should have had a bigger car! We did enjoy our stay in South Africa and can highly recommend many of the hotels and guest houses, staggering scenery, lovely helpful people, incredibly sophisticated cooking (we didn’t have any meals that would be bettered in London!).
Peter, Jean & Hetty – South Africa (April 2016)
May 4, 2016

The holiday was AMAZING, Gambia is such a great destination, thank you for recommending we visit and putting together a wonderful varied experience for us, we loved it all! Fathala Wildlife Reserve in Senegal was incredible, the ferry transfers were great fun and an insight to local life and we were well looked after on both journeys. The Mandina Lodges were stunning and the floating lodge was lovely.
Dave & Amanda – Gambia (March 2016)
May 30, 2016

You gave us good knowledge of the county which gave me confidence in you from our first conversation. Easy to communicate with and get hold of. I always want to feel in control of my holiday and I felt able to discuss and make changes to your initial itinerary. Highlights included the Skiing in Whistler & the guide we had for Niagara falls. We loved Vancouver and did the whale watching cruise and float plane ride.
Pearman Family – Canada (March 2016)
May 30, 2016

We had the most wonderful time thank you so much!! We loved the safari in South Luangwa. Danforth yachting (Lake Malawi) was great fun - we enjoyed all the activities. Kaya Mawa was gorgeous we had a great time and the food was fantastic!! All in all a hugely successful trip so thank you for putting it all together for us. We will definitely recommend you to friends
Brown Family – Zambia & Malawi (March 2016)

Thank you so much for organising my trip to Australia for me! I was very unsure about travelling alone but Mags met me and talked me through the things I needed to do, such as getting travel insurance and a visa. The group I met in Alice Springs and travelled with were great fun and the tour leader was lovely. I really loved everything, it was all amazing!
Becky Baker – Australia (Feb – March 2016)
March 29, 2016

What can I say? You did it again! From the night I arrived, being welcomed back to Hemingways in Nairobi (I felt like the King of Scotland again!), to the day I left everything was a complete delight. Elephant Watch Camp is lovely, the staff there are superb. They know all the elephants by name and there were around 9 families in the area, Saba had arranged a surprise sleep out for me with the warriors! I had some amazing leopard sightings around Samburu too ... all in all very sad to leave there.
Wilf Graham – Elephant Watch, Kenya (March 2016)
March 29, 2016

Great time had by both of us, lots to see and find interesting, some bits not as good as others but none bad! Enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere at Tanjong Jara and meeting Chef Ann!! Great holiday, good memories, and thank you as ever for arranging it and for rapid responses to my emails even whilst travelling. Here's to the next one!
Jenny & David Stagg – Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore (Feb – Mar 2016)
March 23, 2016

The entire trip and booking process has been a highlight! From talking to Jules on the phone trying to decide where to go to finding out the actual experience was exactly as she described it would be. Wildlife, nature, good weather, friendly welcomes…fantastic food… perfect flights… everything! Going to Zambia in the Emerald season is a delight...
Naomi Delorme – Zambia (Feb – March 2016)
March 22, 2016

Giving us a wealth of knowledge from her years spent working in Africa, Jules soon put together the perfect holiday for us. Just back home, the holiday already seems like ages ago but we really did have the trip of a lifetime! Thank you Jules for your arrangements and making it all work so well for us (especially talking to us whilst we were flying from the Mara, not sure which air strip to get off the plane!!)
David & Sue Hughes – Kenya (Feb – March 2016)
March 24, 2016

Thank you for our tailor made holiday to Cambodia and Vietnam (with Dubai stop over). You listened to what we wanted and made the changes to our itinerary as requested. The ground agents were fantastic, the guides were always on time and everything was organised very efficiently. There were many fantastic sights and experiences. Halong Bay was a particular favourite of mine.
Malc, Sue, Tony and Karen – Indo China (Jan 2016)
March 22, 2016

Thank you so much for sorting this out - what a superb break. We are totally knackered now but a awesome getaway! Airline was great (Norwegian), overnight excursion with snow mobiles and dog sledding at Camp Tamok (stayed in Aurora cabin) was superb we really enjoyed it.
Rob & Rebecca – Norway (January 2016)

January 12, 2016

We just returned from a beautiful trip to Ethiopia, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for organising it and sorry for the late changes we made to the programme! Simien Mountains, Lalibela and Bale Mountains were beautiful as were the Gelada baboons, the Ibex, incredible amount of native birds and the Ethiopian wolf
Hera & Taco – Ethiopia (December 2015)
January 12, 2016

Nellim Wilderness Lodge was everything we wanted from this holiday and was worth the extra travelling to get to. We loved seeing the Northern lights and the husky team driving was a highlight for all the adults. The kids loved all the excursions and the lack of pressure on timings meant that we all enjoyed the holiday more.
Rutland Family – Santa’s Lapland (Dec 2015)
December 23, 2015

The meeting with Santa was perfect, they took us out on a snow mobile excursion then as we got to the forest we could see lights flickering in a cabin and went to take a look and found Santa! All the activities plus sledging was right outside the lodge. We loved it so much we might go back again!
Shaylor Family – Lapland (December 2015)
January 8, 2016

We can’t thank Travel With Jules enough for all the work and effort they put in to organising our holiday of a life time! From the first email we sent to the day we came back, everything was trouble and stress free. Our only regret was we should have gone for 3 weeks instead of 2! Thank you Jules & Mags for making memories that will last a lifetime.
California Road Trip – James & Laura (Aug 2015)

September 23, 2014

We absolutely loved Malawi and the whole itinerary was perfect! You were very efficient in sorting it all out, we could not fault a thing. Mountain biking, hiking, boat safaris and Lake Malawi - all very different and all great fun!
The Mack Family – Malawi (July 2014)
August 13, 2014

While all of our hotels were beyond wonderful, Senegal is quite culturally different from ours (USA). Many roads are still sand and unpaved- though a good part of the trip to the delta was on the highway- at least one hour was a short cut through quite a barren area, little villages along the way […]
Laurie Schlussel – Senegal (March 2014)
April 8, 2014

Wow, we had an amazing time in Canada! We mushed huskies and ski-dooed over frozen lakes in stunning blue skies and sunshine and saw the Northern Lights in the Yukon three nights in a row!
Julie & Chris Bartlett – Canada (Feb 2014)
March 18, 2014

A special thank you for organising both my visits this year to Namibia and introducing me to Conservancy Safaris.  They were such a privilege to travel with, especially this last trip where Garth personally guided me to the most remote areas I have ever been to.  This adventure with Conservancy Safaris was amongst my best […]
Wilf Graham – Namibia (Feb & Oct 2013)
December 13, 2013

Julie's knowledge of wildlife tourism to Africa is nothing short of excellent, she always comes up with some gems of ideas that you would never think of or find for yourself!
Rich & Cheryl – Rwanda (November 2012)
December 15, 2012

If, like me, you’ve stumbled across Julie’s website after doing a search for a holiday experience, don’t waste any more time looking for your perfect holiday organiser – you’ve found her! Nothing seemed like too much trouble; plenty of ‘what ifs’ posed and responded to with an immediate understanding of what we were looking for. If you’re looking for a travel organiser to tailor your holiday to your requirements, look no further than Jules – thoroughly recommended.
Andy & Graham – Route 66 USA (September 2012)
October 19, 2012

Kerrie Parfitt – Iceland (July 2012)

Julie, many, many thanks for the trip you organised for us to Norway for my wife’s surprise birthday present. Your help, both recommendations and bookings, made organising a holiday a pleasurable experience and having you available by phone and on-line to sort out any possible problems was reassuring.
Peter Robinson – Northern Norway (Feb 2012)
March 27, 2012

All my flights were arranged efficiently, airport transfers were organised and I quickly met up with the group on my arrival in Marrakech. I would happily use 'Travel with Jules' to book future holidays.
Karen Pooley – Morocco (Dec 2011)
December 20, 2011

Just back from Jordan & Israel - a brilliant holiday. We had a fantastic time and never at any stage was there any doubt about the arrangements. We greatly appreciate all the hard graft you put in to make things happen for us, and the planning with you and expectation of things to come doubles the pleasure of the experience.
Furbank Family – Jordan & Israel (Oct 2011)
October 30, 2011

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
