Phil & Sue Fenning – Kenya (Dec 2017)

Well………………. what a change in temperature !!!!!!! (We returned to snow and ice in Suffolk!). We have had a lovely restful week thank you. Just what we needed. Long way for a week but was worth it.

Our transfer to Dreams Of Africa Resort was a long 2.5 hour mini bus transfer (which actually was OK and gave us the opportunity to see Kenya from the comfort of our seats) ALL staff were very attentive and invited us to have breakfast etc on arrival. When we got into our suite, it was HUGE !!!! and VERY well equipped with all the essentials a girl needs !! A good quality hair dryer, fully stocked fridge that was replenished daily with no extra charge, a fab Jacuzzi bath with an variety of essential good quality oils provided. In fact, from a girls point of view, I was very impressed with the quality of all the toiletries actually. Great large shower with ample hot water. Ample towels and bath robes, again all of good quality. TV worked and great selection of English speaking channels, not that we watched a lot of TV but nice to have the option. Clean and attentive room maid, coming to turn our huge bed down each evening and adding a little personal touch of a poem each night on our pillow !!! Food and service …………… couldn’t fault it. Good variety every day. Beginning of the week when not so busy, every thing was cooked to order. As the week progressed and hotel got busier, starters and desserts were buffet style with entrees and main being cooked to order. A choice of about 3/4 dishes in each course, small portion but with 5 courses, suited us!

The pool area maybe a little tired and in need of a little TLC maybe but didn’t stop us having a dip etc. Hotel beach area kept clean and tidy and beds, clean towels etc. readily available with a very attentive attendant. Bar staff also very attentive through out the day keeping our thirst well quench with our favourite tipple. It was nice to have the option of the use of the adjoining hotel facilities, including the spa area, but for us, we had all we needed at Dreams of Africa. We did have a buffet style evening Christmas themed meal there on the Saturday night (before we left) as a wedding was taking place at DOA, live music and variety of food.

The airport lounge you booked worked well at Nairobi on the way home and we were grateful for the food and facilities. Was quite a walk to find it mind you, and quite a walk to the gate. But was welcomed.

All in all we both said one of the only hotels we have stayed in where all inclusive really does mean ‘all is included’ couldn’t fault it. Really enjoyed the food, which as you know, we like our ‘nice’ food.  Anyway, we enjoyed our much needed R&R with great weather thrown in. We both said it would be somewhere we would consider going again………………….. so watch this space.
