Clare & Gerry Sheehan – Corfu (June-July 2017)

We had a fabulous holiday to Corfu thank you!  I had a swift response to a late request for a weeks holiday at the end of June. Jules suggested several viable options, all of which met our requirements! The main difficulty was making a decision. We opted for Kalami Bay in Corfu (home of The Durrells) and the highlight was Kalami Bay itself – a beautiful view from the studio apartment. Things we enjoyed most included

  • The little bay next to Kalami – Kouloura – had a great little beach and top taverna (Taverna Kouloura).
  • Driving off the beaten track and exploring the little mountain villages, like Sinardes. High points provided spectacular views.
  • Reading two Durrell books overlooking The White House!
  • Great little shop in the village so we could prepare meals ourselves.
  • The weather!

Corfu is a very well known and popular island, so it is very important to be in the right place. We came across some beautiful coastal spots that were ruined by hotels, tourists and music. Having travelled around the island, I actually think Kalami and Kouloura bay were the bests spots! (better than the Liapades apartment on the west coast, which would have been our other choice).

Thank you for making it happen we will come back to Travel With Jules again.
