Caroline Vincett – Western Canada (June – July 2018)

Thank you for arranging a fantastic holiday!  Highlights included the bear watching, whale watching and the people of Canada! Knight Inlet was lovely – remote, quiet and stunning wildlife. Only negative was the early mornings. 6.30 breakfast and out all day about 8 hours a day on the water. We left early to get back to Vancouver on departure day and really needed to as the ferries were every 1.5 hrs. We had great weather throughout except in Tofino where there were a couple of wet days. Our whale watching day (Tofino) started foggy but then cleared and in the afternoon we saw Orcas, Grey Whales and sea otters. Recommend the Schooner Inn in Tofino for a lovely meal. At Tofino (Long Beach Lodge) note you need to be on 1st or 2nd floor to get views. Glorious to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view.

The Comfort Inn at Campbell River was very good – smart, helpful and organised. Oswego Hotel Victoria was lovely and we loved Victoria, we would go back. Lake Louise was horrendously busy! Car parks shut by 10 am as so much traffic! Lake Louise Inn very basic & we would recommend not staying in Lake Louise itself but somewhere further out, it was too touristy for us. We ate at Mountain Restaurant nearby which was great. Rocky Mountaineer was fab and we loved Sandman Suites in Kamloops where there was a band playing in the park outside in the evening.
