Released early in 2017 ‘Viceroy’s House’ is a new British-Indian drama production starring Hugh Bonneville as Lord Mountbatten and filmed at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. Recreate your own experience with a tailor made holiday to include a stay in this wonderful palace!

Fed up of being an armchair traveller?  If, like Jules, you love travel and wildlife documentaries and want to transport yourself to these wonderful destinations, get in touch and let us arrange it for you!

Throughout my career there have been iconic TV moments that have remained in my mind forever – watching David Attenborough getting up close to the mountain gorillas on Life on Earth is probably my most vivid memory from years back, making me yearn to travel to Africa and see them myself (which I have been lucky enough to do several times). 2013 gave us the impressive BBC David Attenborough series with awesome photography AFRICA. In Spring 2016 ‘The Durrells’ showcases the life of young Gerald Durrell as his family moved to Corfu and he developed his fascination for wildlife into a lifelong career in zoology and conservation.  The latest exciting travelogue to hit our TV screens is the gorgeous Joanna Lumley’s Japan.  We love Joanna and Japan in this office!  Contact us and speak to Mags who has recently been to Japan (here she is drumming!), to arrange your own special holiday here.

The adventurous travels of Bruce Parry never fail to inspire me to explore the world’s remote cultures and adventure into new lands and meet new people. If you want to visit an Amazon tribe, travel across the Arctic and stay with Reindeer herders or meet the fascinating people of Ethiopia, we can sort that out for you! in 2016 on BBC TV Gordon Buchanan travelled to Brazil, Botswana and Papua New Guinea in ‘Tribes, Predators and Me’ to meet some of the most remote indigenous peoples of the planet and got up close to large predators such as Anacondas, Lions and Saltwater Crocodiles!

Earthflight was an incredible photography series on BBC showing amazing footage from a bird’s eye view around the world – if you want to see the wonders of the world such as Monument Valley, the Great Rift of Africa or the Andes and Amazon ask me how!

There have been in recent years some great Railway Journeys on TV  – Michael Portillo has been tracing the old Bradshaw’s Guide around the European tracks and there have been re-runs of Great British Rail Journeys too. In 2015 – 2016 he also took some rail journeys in USA and in spring 2016 Billy Connolly is travelling on sleeper trains across America too

Did you follow Simon Reeve round the Indian Ocean and visit the amazing islands and beaches of this stunning coastline? He also went to Cuba in December 2012. I love his down to earth presenting style and the fact that he brings up the ‘other side’ of tourism glossed over by some travel programmes. If you want to visit the man in the Seychelles on his private island of tortoises or see the ladies who make things from beach rubbish along the East Coast of Africa ask me where to go! Autumn 2014 saw Simon following the journeys of the world’s Sacred Rivers – get in touch if you would like your own adventure featuring rivers and lakes.  In November 2014 Sue Perkins is travelling the length of the Mighty Mekong River.

If you followed Big Cat Diary you’ll love the BBC programme featuring life in the Masai Mara – I used to visit the Mara regularly in my days as a tour leader, so ask me to find the best holiday to get you there!  Did you enjoy the baby animals on Planet Earth Live from around the world? June 2012 saw the latest ‘Living Planet‘ series from BBC with Chris Packham getting inside the secrets of the rainforests, savannah and other parts of our natural world … check out my ‘Natural Worlds’ section of the website. BBC2 in September 2015 showed ‘This Wild Life’ Saba Douglas-Hamilton’s home Elephant Watch Camp in Samburu is in the spotlight!

Ocean’s Giants showed incredible footage of whales and dolphins in our Oceans, there are plenty of places around the planet where you can also get up close to these amazing creatures or enjoy a diving and snorkelling holiday.  Some of the best coral diving on the planet was shown on BBC with Monty Hall to The Great Barrier Reef. How amazing was the David Attenborough series The Frozen Planet with amazing footage of penguin colonies, whales, icebergs and polar bears … ask us how to get you there!

Did you see Zambezi on BBC Natural World?  What a fantastic film … if you want to raft the Zambezi, watch the elephants on the floodplains or see the Blue Wildebeest migration, get in touch for your own holiday to fabulous Zambia, Victoria Falls or Mozambique. The awesome programme Madagascar had some stunning footage of this amazing island, a must do for any wildlife and natural history enthusiast – I want to go and see the ‘dancing’ lemurs myself!

Maybe you enjoyed watching Joanna Lumley drifting down The Nile from Egypt through Ethiopia and Uganda to it’s source in Rwanda or you want to visit the Ice Hotel which she stayed at in Norway. Last year did you follow Joanna Lumley’s Greek Odyssey as she explored the ancient sites and met the people of Greece?  If you too would like a cultural holiday to Greece or want to join an escorted tour or cruise around the ancient Greek sites, walk in the hills of Evia, follow in the footsteps of the Greek Gods then get in touch for us to tailor your own special holiday to Greece! The latest exciting travelogue to hit our TV screens is Joanna Lumley’s Japan.  We love Joanna and Japan in this office!  Contact us and speak to Mags who has recently been to Japan, to arrange your own special holiday here.

If you fancy doing ‘India On Four Wheels’ (or by bike, on foot, by train or by elephant for that matter!) take a look at the India pages for ideas. Some of the Holiday Hijack programmes have had me cringing on the sofa and being embarrassed to be British, but it’s good that the other side of tourism has been highlighted.  If you want to give something back when you go on holiday, why not spend some time staying with local families and learn about their culture or helping with volunteer projects? In 2014 featured on BBC was Hotel India – wow, what an amazing insight to the running of one of India’s most prestigious hotels in Mumbai!  Lucky me – I have stayed there, along with other Taj Palaces in India, so do get in touch if you too would like to arrange a holiday to include a stay at the Taj Palace Hotel in Mumbai or any of the other Taj hotels. Or if you fancy your own version of Indian Summers in the hill stationsof the Himalayas or the ‘Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ we can book that too!

If you’ve always wanted to see the Manhattan skyline and visit the locations of your favourite TV shows and Films around New York and Boston, why not incorporate ‘On Location’ tours into a holiday to the United States? For film buffs, a visit to Los Angeles and Hollywood is a must (Stay in the Beverly Wiltshire – setting for ‘Pretty Woman’) and there are various locations around the canyon lands and California you can explore while you are in the west of USA.  If you enjoyed following Billy Connolly’s Route 66 on TV, ask us to book your own version of his self drive Route 66 either on a bike or by car!

Food and Travel go hand in hand and there are endless TV programmes show casing delicious foods around the world. We really enjoyed Rick Stein’s India in search of the perfect curry! He cooked his way in 2015 from Venice to Istanbul. If you enjoyed the Hairy Bikers Bakation – ask us about a range of self drives, city breaks or foodie tours to suit you around Europe. One of the most enjoyable programmes I watched was Rick Stein’s Spain loving the fabulous food an people he met along the way, as he travelled around in a campervan. If you too want to sample the tapas bars of Seville, the grapes of Rioja wines and Catalan seafood, ask us to arrange a tailor made foodie holiday to Spain for you or if the spices and seafood of Asia are more your thing head to the floating markets and street cafes of Thailand!  There are plenty of other cookery programmes with strong connections to travel, if you want to explore Jamie’s Italy or learn to make pasta or cook authentic pizza, we know some lovely little guest farms and hotels around Umbria and Tuscany that would be right up your street! If you were inspired by the fabulous Mauritian food of Shelina Permalloo, the 2012 Masterchef champion, take a holiday to Mauritius to experience the sunny flavours of the Indian Ocean first hand or Masterchef 2014 winner Ping Coombs‘ lovely Malaysian food!

If your favourite film or TV programme was created from a book, hop over to our Literary Inspired Holidays page for more suggestions of travel adventures from historical characters such as Jules Verne, Robinson Crusoe or Karen Blixen!

So next time you are lying on the sofa gazing at the wonders of the world on your TV, inspired by our presenters and documentaries to go to these places, pick up the phone (01728 748209) or send us an enquiry form and let us get your wheels in motion!

As always you did everything to such a high standard (We wouldn't expect anything else from you though!!) Where in the world can you visit a zen garden in the morning and meet with the head resident priest for a chat, see a very large cat being walked on a collar and lead through the bamboo groves and see the craziness of a robot cabaret........... that would be Japan!!!! A massive thank you to Jules and Mags for yet another fabulously arranged holiday. If you're thinking of going to Japan then book with Travel with Jules, the organisation is excellent, the information you receive is comprehensive and very detailed, you can't go wrong.

The holiday was AMAZING, Gambia is such a great destination, thank you for recommending we visit and putting together a wonderful varied experience for us, we loved it all! Fathala Wildlife Reserve in Senegal was incredible, the ferry transfers were great fun and an insight to local life and we were well looked after on both journeys. The Mandina Lodges were stunning and the floating lodge was lovely.

What can I say ... you did it again! I loved every minute of my Kenya adventure. The Born Free Foundation anniversary safari was superb. We spent loads of time with Virginia McKenna whilst at Elsa's Kopje, she was full of 'hidden facts' about the lives of the Adamsons and I really enjoyed her company. Amboseli was fabulous. In Nairobi I enjoyed my visit to Daphne Sheldrick's Elephant Orphans and seeing my adopted baby later in the afternoon. So thank you again for your superb organisation and personalised 'conservation' based safari, I'm retiring soon so look out I will be travelling even more!
Wilf Graham – Kenya (Oct-Nov 2014)
November 17, 2014

We really did have an amazing time in Kenya - I really appreciate your work in organising everything for us, it was fantastic!! The effort to make my birthday special was lovely. We feel we have seen animals in the wild that are not overly harassed and negatively impacted by human activity, this is very important to us.
Aimee & Hazel – Kenya (Jan 2014)

December 15, 2012

Within three hours of me posting a Tweet for holiday help, I received a phone call from Jules. By the next morning my week’s holiday in Crete was researched, sorted and agreed, including a good deal on car hire. We stayed in some great apartments in the heart of the resort and enjoyed a really relaxing week. I can’t recommend Jules highly enough (or Twitter!) and will certainly consider using her services again.
Graham Richards – Crete (July 2011)
August 24, 2011

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
