We currently have a special offer for the Venice Simplon Orient Express train and also it’s sister train the Eastern & Oriental Express.
You can have lunch in England, dinner in France and wake up to breakfast passing through the spectacular Alps. A rail journey on the Orient Express can be booked as a stand alone holiday or combined with other rail networks of Europe. The classic journey consists of two days travelling to Venice or Verona, then have a three or four night hotel stay in Italy and either return by train or fly home.
Board the British Pullman train and enjoy a three course lunch with wine and champagne as you start the journey to Folkstone in Kent. You will be escorted to your transfer through the Channel Tunnel then board the beautiful Wagons-Lits (sleeper cabins) carriages await. Dress for dinner in your private cabin and enjoy a sumptuous meal with wine in the restaurant car, returning to your cabin which has been converted to a bedroom space.
The next day you wake in the midst of the beautiful Alps of Switzerland and take breakfast in your cabin. Enjoy the scenery from the train during the day and prepare to disembark on crossing the Venetian Lagoon into Santa Lucia station. The train calls at Verona Port Nuova station about an hour before terminating in Venice.
The sleeping cars are decorated with individual marquetry patterns, Art Deco floral patterns, flowers and mahogany panels. For daytime comfort there is a banquette sofa, footstool and table then at night it is converted to one upper and one lower bed. Each compartment has towels, toiletries and a wash basin, a fan, luggage racks and 24 hour steward service. There are three restaurant cars on the Venice Simplon Orient Express, individually decorated and serving a range of cuisines. The Maitre D’ will try and seat you in different cars for each meal so that you can experience them all and the bar car is open throughout the day, late into the night with a pianist playing before and after meals. Drinks apart from coffee and bottled water must be paid for and wine with meals can be purchased from the restaurant car wine list. The minimum requirement for dress code on the Orient Express is a suit and tie for men and equivalent standard for ladies, you can never be overdressed for dinner!
Departure dates vary, but usually you can travel by Orient Express London to Paris (or vice versa) on Thursday or Sunday and London to Venice on Thursday or Sunday.
