Classic Tuscany

This is a very popular 7 night escorted tour to Italy, around the highlights of Tuscany. Marvel at the fine frescoes of Florence, wander along the city ramparts of Lucca and taste local foods and flavours including Olive Oils and Chianti wines.

Flights are from Gatwick to Pisa with regional flights available on some departure dates. Book as early as you can as most dates have limited availability as this is such fantastic value for money!  You will stay for seven nights in a hotel in Reggelio in the heart of Tuscany with five nights including dinner and two on B&B to enable you to sample the food of other restaurants in town.  Lunches of course can be taken as and where you wish and there is no shortage of fantastic local cafes and trattorias to choose from!  See Tastes of Tuscany for more information about the cuisine of the region. The region is full of quaint medieval villages and historic cities with fabulous artistic treasures and rolling hills of olives and vines.  Reggello is a peaceful village surrounded by hills in the Arno Valley with a central square where you can enjoy a glass of wine watching the world go by or wander the surrounding countryside on gentle walks.

Arriving into Pisa you settle into your hotel and your tour guide will explain the week ahead to you and will share their knowledge to make sure you gain the best out of your stay in Tuscany. During the days here guided excursions included will be to Chianti, Lucca, Arezzo and Cascia.  There are also optional excursions you can take to Siena and Florence.

Chianti is a fabulous wine producing region and you will discover some of the secrets of wine making on a tour of a well known winery, seeing the process from grape to bottle and of course sampling the goods!

The ancient city of Lucca is beautifully by walls and ramparts which you can stroll around. Magnificent architecture can be enjoyed here including 13th century mosaics on the Romanesque San Frediano church. There is a central city square built on remains of a Roman amphitheatre.

A walking tour will take you to Arezzo where you will learn about the rich history of the city and visit the Church of San Francesco with an amazing interior frescoe. Enjoy the shops displaying fine jewellery produced here.

You will be taken to a church in the village of Cascia to view a Renaissance masterpiece and then to sample some of Tuscany’s fabulous olive oil at the Bonsi Estate. Learn abou the production process and see how olives are selected.

In Florence, the birthplace of Renaissance, you will find endless examples of fabulous art and architecture. Wander to the Piazzale Michelangelo to look out over the city spread before you or sit in a picturesque square and enjoy a coffee on a shopping break!

You can take a walking tour of Siena with a specialist local guide and enjoy one of the most beautiful cities in Italy with palaces, towers and churches filling the skyline.

Ask me about booking a Classic Tuscany tour for you or to find you a similar tour maybe on different dates or in other parts of Italy.  If this itinerary is not quite right I can tailor made your own holiday to Tuscany.

The travel and private meet and greet transfer on arrival went smoothly (even though it was bank holiday weekend!). The hotel was lovely (Palazzo Giovanelli) and had great views - very close to the Rialto Bridge. Venice has so much to offer and plenty of restaurant choices, but as expected very expensive. The guided tours are necessary to get a real understanding of the city.

We spent a week in Sicily this July all organised by Travel by Jules. This is our 4th holiday with them and as always everything has been great. Sicily is a beautiful island, everything was well organised by Jules and Mags as expected. We received some information about Sicily before hand (thank you so much for the map) and once there it felt stress free the resort chosen was very good and we took advantage of the free bus trip to Taormina. Thank you Jules and Mags it was a great holiday.

Everything was truly amazing. I've never had a holiday like it and it felt great to be honouring my parent's legacy and their last wishes which was "Go somewhere special together - hang the expense! I loved the TWJ travel wallet and luggage tags - we never felt like we were 'just a customer" or that something couldn't be done or that they were trying to hard sell me at any time. I certainly enjoyed a very special holiday indeed.

Thank you for your organisation of our holiday to Rome and Sorrento. All ran very smoothly ! Locations of both hotels was good. Too many highlights to mention here but we saw such amazing sites in Rome and then loved visiting Pompeii via the local train . We were happy we took your advice and only stayed in Rome for four nights, more would have wiped us out!

Thank you for your organising our last minute city break to Palermo we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. The junior suite at Hotel Quintocanto was worth the extra and you couldn't ask for a better location. We understand that the reason for the cancellation for our return flight was indeed strike action in Italy. We commend yourselves and the operator for how you handled the change to plan.

Service from Travel with Jules was first class! You guys were great and helpful and patient…. All very good on the organisation side of things. The chef at the villa produced lovely food and the weather was great. The couple of trips into Rome itself went really well, the guide was a real star! The swimming pool at the villa was lovely and it was nice that they kept it open for us.

If you’re considering seeing the Palio in Sienna (and you should) you must go for a few days before, and at least one day after. It is an extraordinary event that has its feet firmly placed in the Middle Ages, The Palio is actually about tradition, pageantry, corruption and thuggery. But all of those things make for an amazing experience. Jules got really good seats for us – the terraces is where it’s at. Then there’s the drums, the flags, the roaring oxen, the colour, the noise – an incredible time WILL be had! ..... But get stuck in – because they haven’t arranged it for you, and they won’t wait for you to join them!

Thank you to Travel With Jules for co-coordinating our rail and accommodation arrangements for our rail holiday to France and Italy – I would have no hesitation in recommending you to any of our friends requiring similar help. All rail bookings were as requested  and documentation clear. In particular the Turin/Rome, Rome/Napoli and Napoli/Rome train journeys […]

We have used ‘Travel with Jules’ twice now over the last 2 years (last time to South Africa) and have been absolutely delighted with the very friendly, personal and efficient service which Jules has provided. On both occasions she has been able to distil our rather sketchy ideas into more coherent plans which she has […]

As usual the whole organisation, choice of hotel, resort and weather was impeccable. And you arranged for Vesuvius not to blow it's top whilst we were there. So that's another item ticked off the list: I am amazed I've finally seen Pompeii and particularly Herculaneum. We don’t do holidays that are so relaxing that we really, REALLY, DON’T WANT TO GO HOME! AND IT WAS ALL YOUR FAULT......

Lets start by saying a big thank-you for all your help. Our idea of having a Europen adventure in the car (as an alternative to our usual sailing holidays) came last year after watching Micheal Portillo on the mountain trains in Switzerland and our desire to encorage our daughters interest in  history by visiting Rome. We were so pleased with everything Julie did for us, we started with four days in Paris with a day trip to Monet's Garden (a must) and of course the Moulin Rouge, then from Paris to Monaco, Nice, St. Tropez , Dijon, Tours and returned to Paris for the last 3 days, we travelled (from Australia) four weeks in all everything went very smoothly, I am sure due to the fact that Julie put in so much effort to make it so. The thing that I really liked was if you wanted to contact Julie on any matter you were not sure about she was always there with a reply asap, she become like a friend - nothing was too much bother for her.

The Journey of a Lifetime on the Venice Simplon Orient Express! The whole holiday was a great success. Thank you very much for all your planning, booking and checking the finer details. We have many happy memories that will last for a long time! The Goring Hotel in London, the Pullman/Orient Express trains and Hotel Cipriani in Venice were all brilliant. Staff looked after us extremely well and were very patient.

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
