Brown Bears, Whales, huge glaciers, pine forests and mountains … experience the great outdoors on a huge scale! That’s what Alaska means to me … a fabulous destination for a wildlife holiday with whales, seals, porpoises, bears and sea otters. Vast tundra landscapes and national parks to experience true wilderness regions, great walking trails and outdoor adventures. Meet the traditional tribal people of the coastal regions. There are a huge range of tours and experiences for watching bears and whales around Alaska.
Visit the vast expanse of peaks and glaciers in the Wrangell-St Elias Mountains and Denali National Park, go hiking around the highest peak in North America, Mt McKinley (6194m). Enjoy the marine life at Prince William Sound and Glacier Bay and amongst the fjords of Kenai National Park, or take a small float plane flight deep into the wilderness to see black and grizzly bears.
Alaska is a great place to see the Northern Lights along with the Yukon in Canada – check out these amazing photographs taken in early September on a trip through the Yukon and Alaska. In the winter, the frozen lands of Alaska are a real adventure playground with snow mobiles, dog sledding and living like an inuit!
A leisurely way to travel here is by ship, cruises often travel from Vancouver so you can combine Alaska easily with Canada.
Alaska is one of the world’s favourite destinations for natural history and wildlife holidays.
In south west Alaska (the most popular area to visit), you may spot mountain goats patrolling shoreline cliffs, black bears catching their lunch or moose feeding in marshy tidelands. Main species seen here include mountain goats, Brown and Black Bears, Moose, Sitka Black-tailed Deer , River otter & Beaver.
Thank you again for your help and support with organising the trip. It truly was spectacular and such an amazing place. The aurora display we got on the 3 nights in Dawson was out of this world at times the entire sky was filled above us and no lens would have been wide enough to capture it

I’m currently in the process of visiting all the States of the USA and this trip was going to tick-off Alaska as number 45! All my other trips have been on a Harley or in a 4x4 (all recent years have been booked by Travel With Jules) so when a train trip around part of Alaska was suggested, this was going to be a new experience. I was a little apprehensive that each leg of my journey (5 in all, approx. 120 miles each) was going to take about 4 hours but the scenery in Alaska is spectacular and time flew by. Alaska is HUGE and so beautiful that I want to go back to see more of it. Probably my favourite State! … Thanks Jules and Mags for organising a most memorable trip.

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
