Sandwiched between the USA and Central America, Mexico is a melting pot of culture and a variety of climates and landscapes. Deserts, mountains and jungles contain ancient stories of the Aztec and Mayan empires with temples and ruins to be explored here.
Surrounded by sandy, tropical beaches with the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean to the east and some fabulous dive spots, Mexico holidays attract couples, families and groups in equal numbers. The main rainy season is May to early November and the flying time from the UK is 12 hours. Self drive holidays are a great way to explore this large country, take in the sights from east to west and experience the culture of Mexico. To the south of the country in the Chiapas highlands you will find the colonial town of San Cristobal which is surrounded by indigenous villages and jungles. Palaenque is where you will find an incredibly atmospheric Mayan site.
Mexico City is home to over 20 million people and is scattered with magnificent churches, art galleries and museums. The Pacific coast and the peninsula of Baja California are great places for whale watching and have many attractive beaches. Inland from the pacific is one of the world’s greatest train journeys at the Copper Canyon. On the other side there is the Caribbean coast and islands in the Gulf of Mexico where you find a range of sheltered bays and beaches for great diving and snorkelling. The Yucatan Peninsula juts out into the Caribbean, almost touching Cuba and is the main destination for beach holidays and honeymoons in Mexico with large resort hotels stretching from Cancun down to Tulum, along the Riviera Maya.
1 and 2 November host the spectacular Day of the Dead festival – when spirits of the dead return to earth to be reunited with their loved ones. Graveyards become packed with colour and sound, as families gather to decorate the graves and musicians stroll the grounds playing the deceased’s favourite music. Street parties and markets are also held: sugar skulls are sold and swapped between friends and family. Some of the best places to see the celebrations are in Oaxaca and Lake Patzcuaro.
My 6 and 8 year old daughters loved every minute and didn't want to come home, it was a perfect family holiday, with plenty to do and very educational for them but fun at the same time

Julie and John travelled with Exodus as part of a Peru Explorer group trip which included Nasqua Lines, Arequipa and Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Cusco and Machu Picchu and the Amazon. As the Inca Trail was too busy they opted for the less well trodden ‘Moonstone Trek’ which still ended at Machu Picchu but much […]

For the last three years we have been using Jules to arrange our annual winter long haul holidays and have enjoyed travelling with someone else doing the organising in the full knowledge that should a problem occur we have a reliable point of contact who ensures that our enjoyment of the holiday isn't in any way spoiled. I would thoroughly recommend using 'Travel with Jules' to anyone contemplating wishing to travel on a wildlife & sightseeing adventure!

The holiday was great thanks. Gatwick was super quick. Flight was fine (got good seats so had leg room). Dreams Tulum was amazing, exclusively all inclusive so no silly wrist bands or anything. Well staffed so always everywhere was immaculate. The food was really good, lots of options. The private beach and pool area was really close […]

I work hard to be able to afford great holidays. I know that you Jules work very hard to make sure that I enjoy my holidays. I love the fact that you can take my fledgling dream for a trip, and transform it into real life; that you listen to what I would like to do, and adjust the finer details to fit my dream, never suggesting that my dream be squeezed into a pre-formed package.

We had a wonderful time in Peru - thank you for organising this, the people were lovely and I particularly enjoyed the train travel. The Amazon lodge was amazing and we did all the tours day and night!

As Andy was 50 this year, we wanted a special trip and Jules did an amazing job of organising our trip to Peru and Machu Picchu in May. Thanks to Jules the trip was stress free and very enjoyable.

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
