Costa Rica

Bespoke holidays, honeymoons and wildlife tours to Costa Rica

This small central American country is a haven for tropical wildlife, one of the top wildlife destinations in the world! Colourful toucans, hummingbirds and parrots abound in the forests, several turtle species nest on the beaches, thick rainforest hides the enigmatic Jaguar and dramatic active volcanoes tower over the beautiful landscapes. Explore the forest trails and canopy walks, travel by boat through the jungle rivers, climb the volcanic slopes through coffee plantations and spend time meeting the people of this colourful country. This is a great option for family holidays as there is such a lot to educate and occupy all ages – here is one example of a tour suitable for families.

Costa Rica is full of wonder and adventure holiday options. Flying into the capital, San Jose, you can explore the central highlands and volcanoes nearby.  This is a fertile, hilly region where much coffee is grown and active volcanoes can be observed, puffing in the distance!  There are some active volcanoes that you can get up close to and see inside the steaming, bubbling craters.

Three hours drive from Arenal is the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, a wonderland for naturalists worldwide, with it’s lush forests, extremely rich in bi0-diversity.  Heading to the Pacific coast there are two main areas at each end of Costa Rica’s southern coastline that each have contrasting scenery and wildlife.  The Osa Peninsula down near the border with Panama has coastal rainforest vegetation, whereas the northern Nicoya Peninsula has open pasture land. In the lowlands between the two areas are gorgeous sweeping beaches with palm groves and rocky headlands.

On the Caribbean Coast there is a laid back, friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy family run restaurants and sheltered beaches. Tropical forests such as Tortuguero National Park are home to many species of monkey, frogs and reptiles plus river otters, sloths and ocelots. A land of canyons, rainforests and dramatic rock faces provides the backdrop for a white water rafting adventure if you feel like getting active on the Pacuare River.

Ask us to find you a suitable small group holiday or to tailor a private trip to suit your requirements visiting Costa Rica and maybe other countries in Central America.

Julie and John travelled with Exodus as part of a Peru Explorer group trip which included Nasqua Lines, Arequipa and Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Cusco and Machu Picchu and the Amazon.  As the Inca Trail was too busy they opted for the less well trodden ‘Moonstone Trek’ which still ended at Machu Picchu but much […]

For the last three years we have been using Jules to arrange our annual winter long haul holidays and have enjoyed travelling with someone else doing the organising in the full knowledge that should a problem occur we have a reliable point of contact who ensures that our enjoyment of the holiday isn't in any way spoiled. I would thoroughly recommend using 'Travel with Jules' to anyone contemplating wishing to travel on a wildlife & sightseeing adventure!

I work hard to be able to afford great holidays. I know that you Jules work very hard to make sure that I enjoy my holidays. I love the fact that you can take my fledgling dream for a trip, and transform it into real life; that you listen to what I would like to do, and adjust the finer details to fit my dream, never suggesting that my dream be squeezed into a pre-formed package.

We had a wonderful time in Peru - thank you for organising this, the people were lovely and I particularly enjoyed the train travel. The Amazon lodge was amazing and we did all the tours day and night!

As Andy was 50 this year, we wanted a special trip and Jules did an amazing job of organising our trip to Peru and Machu Picchu in May. Thanks to Jules the trip was stress free and very enjoyable.

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
