Bespoke holidays to Montenegro – group tours and fly drives.

Montenegro is barely 100 km from top to bottom but is full of stunning scenery from high mountains and lakes down to the Adriatic coastline.  It is linked to Croatia by a very narrow border with Albania on the other side.  With it’s beautiful beaches, deep canyons, steep mountains and lush vegetation, some have likened Montenegro to a lost Caribbean island (although not so tropical in climate!).  But the historic towns and villages do firmly have their heart in the centre of the Balkans .There are dramatic mountains with olive covered foothills looking over turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea. There are long sandy beaches particularly around Ulcinj.

One of the most gorgeous bays is at Kotor, a preserved medieval city with architecture dating back to the 12th century which is at the head of southern Europe’s deepest fjord.  It has plenty of monuments and arts, making this a UNESCO World Natural and Historical Heritage Site. Wander the walled coastal towns of Duva and Herceg Novi with their tiny squares, narrow streets and pretty churches.

Beyond Kotor is Mount Lovcen – the black mountain which gives the country it’s name – where you will find plenty of monasteries which are important historical and spiritual centres, some carved high into the hills and cliffs. Explore through fjord like gorges and forests and stop in rural towns to watch the world go by from a pavement cafe.

Durmitor National Park has deep gorges, mountain lakes and forested mountains which in winter provide Montenegro’s best ski resort. Visit the cliff face Ostrog Monastery where pilgrims regularly make the touch climb to pray here.

Ask us about escorted tours to Montenegro, by bike, on foot or in a vehicle!  If you prefer a tailor made option that is no problem and it’s easy to combine with Croatia or other Balkan states and this is a great place for a self drive holiday.

Overall we loved Croatia, thank you for arranging it all, we enjoyed all the different locations, everyone was very friendly and all the connections, transfers and ferries went well. Our hotel the Hilton Imperial in Dubrovnik was perfect and all the locations were very different, we loved Korcula best of all.

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
