Winter ski, summer sun, natural history tours, trekking holidays, city breaks or fly drives to Bulgaria.

Bulgaria is a wonderfully scenic country in the Baltic states of Eastern Europe with a beach border to the east along the Black Sea and and the River Danube forming the natural border to the north with Romania. It is also bordered by Serbia, Macedonia and to the south Greece and Turkey. Summer temperatures reach an average of about 27c with plenty of sunshine.

The Balkan peninsula to the south east has wonderful mountain scenery and long, sandy beaches.  Bulgaria is a country with a colourful character and friendly hospitality which has been unchanged for hundreds of years. The Black Sea coast does have many modern tourist resorts, Blue Flag sandy beaches and lovely warm waters but venture inland for the contrast and rich culture you will find within the forests and mountains. There are many seasonal festivals and folk dances throughout the summer. Around the coastal resorts you can find traditional handicrafts such as lace, pottery and jewellery and the resorts have many good value designer shops. The architecture is a mix of Byzantine and Turkish styles and Sofia is full of churches, museums and galleries.

For winter holidays the Balkan Mountains and alpine peaks offer some great value ski resorts. There are various golf resorts around Bulgaria too.  The capital, Sofia, is worth a few days sightseeing or a city break and there are other airports for the coastal resorts.  Sofia became the capital city in 1879 but it has history dating back to the Romans when it was an important city in the Kingdom of Thrace. There is a 15th century mosque which houses the Archaelogical Museum with ancient treasure on display. If you are interested in a cultural tour of Bulgaria including Sofia and the ‘painted monasteries’ ask us for details.

Thank you for finding and booking this hotel for us - we could not fault this place - perfect if you are looking for a nice relaxing holiday. Food, rooms, staff, beach all fab (might need jelly shoes to get in water as slightly rocky at waters edge (we managed) but once in the water sandy bottom and beautifully clear and lovely to swim in. We popped into town a couple of nights all very pleasant and nice atmosphere. A great holiday thank you xxx

Romania was a lovely place and the people so friendly. The highlight was seeing the wild brown bears, such beautiful animals. Dracula's castle was just as impressive as in pictures!

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
