Saint Lucia is a beautiful green mountainous island in the Windward chain of the Caribbean famous for it’s ‘twin peaks’.  St Lucia is a popular honeymoon destination with a great range of adults only luxury getaways and family resorts, surrounded by stunning scenery. It is also possible to hold weddings here. Saint Lucia is 90 miles northwest of Barbados and 21 miles south of Martinique. Average temperatures are around late 20s C and the heaviest rain is June – November.

The capital is Castries and there are direct flights from London with BA or Virgin. The town is a bustling commercial centre with a vibrant local market and a grand natural harbour. Enjoy a Heritage Walk through this colonial city.

The ‘twin peaks’ of the Piton Mountains dominate the south and look over a rugged coastline with small bays and inlets.  The mountain bases are deep underwater, making this a great destination for snorkelling and diving. There are over 20 species of whale which regularly visit the waters here including Humpbacks, Pilot and Sperm Whales.  Turtle watching is an attraction between March and July when Leatherbacks come ashore to lay their eggs.

Near the Pitons, visit the pretty town of Soufriere and see Diamond Waterfalls and the botanical gardens, here there is the world’s only ‘drive in’ Volcano.  For a day out take a picnic to Pigeon Island, joined by a causeway to the main island at the northern tip, this was once home to the Amerindians and has also been a military base and pirate hideout.  Another excursion is the Fond Doux Estate, a working fruit plantation where you can see how these plants are grown and same traditional Creole lunch with a local rum punch and fruit juices.

This is a great place for wildlife and adventure as well as romance, jeep safaris, zip-wires, horse riding and plenty of water sports.  There are walking trails though rainforests to the mountain tops and through old plantations and along beaches. Birding is great here too. Windsurfing is popular at Cas en Bas on the north east and Vieux Fort on the south east.

Food and culture feature highly on St Lucia. One of the world’s leading jazz festivals takes place where and there is everything on offer in the way of nightlife from street parties and reggae music to romantic beach side cafes.  The nightlife ‘hub’ is at Rodney Bay Village with a variety of bars and clubs. There are some world class restaurants on Saint Lucia – take the ferry to the secluded lagoon of Marigot Bay for a rainforest hideaway that offers Caribbean fine dining at its best. The local brew is called ‘Piton Beer’.

There are luxury and ’boutique’ properties with spas for a bit of pampering, also all inclusive resorts for families and groups. Check out the Hotel Chocolat luxury hotel. If you are planning to get married overseas, Saint Lucia has plenty of options and with it’s tropical climate, gorgeous beaches and stunning landscape makes it a great choice.  The Body Holiday is perfect for pampering and a great option for solo travellers – see our clients feedback on this gorgeous AI hotel option!

Thank you for booking our French Caribbean self guided walking holiday to Guadeloupe and Martinique Travel With Jules adapted the original itinerary by Headwater (the operator) to suit our travel needs from Edinburgh and resolved a ridiculously unnecessary booking on a very early transfer flight at no extra cost to us when Headwater had raised a charge. It […]

All I can say is AWESOME!!!!!! The staff and other visitors at The Body Holiday were so friendly, I didn't feel uncomfortable as a solo traveller (after the first fifteen minutes of watching others obviously!) at all. The hosted communal evening meals were lively, friendly, interesting discussions with perfect strangers, several of whom I subsequently spent meal times with. The service was fantastic, the staff were friendly and I will definitely be looking to travel there again. I would also like to say thank you for putting me on to such a wonderful spot and I would love it if more places were so open to solo travellers and accommodating to different needs. All in all I would score it 10 out of 10!

Our holiday to Dominican Republic was a huge success, thank you! We loved the beautifully conceived "travel packs" that added a "wow" factor! The holiday was also a cloak-and-dagger operation for me to propose to Sophie. The hotel excelled itself on providing 10 restaurants with a la carte offerings - food was superb. Thank you for all your help in making this special holiday happen!

Everything was spot on. The second hotel was excellent - well recommended. Shirley heights on Sunday and the excellence 360 island trip are brilliant.

Cuba – what an amazing country ... the noise and bustle of Havanna, the cars, the history, the people, a place stopped in time, interesting scenery, history and culture and the most beautiful beaches!

Our Caribbean holiday to Windjammer Landing (stayed in a 2 bedroom pool villa) was fab and the place worked well with lots to do for the kids. Food was excellent as long as you kept away from the buffet evenings. The steaks were some of the best I have had so no idea where their […]

Julie gave us an excellent service for our holiday to Barbados. She listened to our requirements, gave informed advice and provided more than we had asked for! We will use her again and will recommend her to family and friends.

Our Caribbean holiday to Antigua was fantastic!! The Inn at English Harbour was really beautiful, quiet and tranquil. Did some excellent snorkelling and a couple of tours as well. Absolutely perfect, certainly one of the best holidays we've had. Thank you so much for organising it, we'll be back for more!

It was lovely to have Jules to sort everything out for us, and it certainly meant that we could relax and get on with organising the other parts of our wedding safe in the knowledge that our honeymoon was being taken care of for us. Everything went as smoothly as it could be from start to finish, we had zero problems throughout.

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
