St Barths

Bespoke holidays and honeymoons to St Barths – Caribbean paradise

The pretty French island of St Barths (or St Barthelemy as it is known locally), could almost have been moved from the Cote d’Azur and towed across the Atlantic to take advantage of the warmer winters! It is elegant and sophisticated, with outstanding restaurants, glorious beaches and great night life (but very discrete!)

The island feels pure French with perfect roads and roundabouts to go round the wrong way! It seems odd early in the morning seeing people walking home in temperatures of 27°c with their ‘baguette’ under their arm for their breakfast.

With over 20 stunning beaches and several vibrant, culturally rich towns, you will never be short of new things to do (and places to explore!) in St Barths. The charismatic capital of Gustavia is home not only to abundant designer shops, chic restaurants and elegant boutique hotels, but a picturesque harbour lined with luxurious yachts and the historic Fort Gustave on the outskirts of town. Set aside at least a day or two to explore – you’ll need it! Smaller than Gustavia but certainly not to be overlooked, the city of Saint-Jean is home to some excellent shopping opportunities, as well as several of the islands most elegent villas, hotels and restaurants. An abundance of tropical vegetation and colourful flowers are also hidden amongst its rolling hills, topped off with stunning views across the ocean and mountains.

Fabulous hotels here include Eden Rock, Hotel Christopher, Hotel Le Toiny and Le Sereno.

St Barths makes a great combo holiday with Antigua and / or Anguilla – get in touch for a tailor made quote for your perfect Caribbean holiday!

Diving and snorkelling – Teeming with huge coral and rainbow coloured fish, the crystalline waters of St Barths are a diver’s paradise. Each bay has a reef to be explored; however the most spectacular dive sites are around the small cape of L’Ane Rouge, and Pain de Sucre, an islet off Gustavia harbour.

Beaches Not only are the beaches of St. Barths blessed with dazzling, soft white sand and clear turquoise waters, they are rarely crowded (even in peak season) and are all public and free. From vast sandy stretches to small fishing harbours and serene hidden coves, this small island has a beach to suit everyone.

Food and drink – St Barths is the undisputed gastronomic capital of the French West Indies, and there are almost eighty excellent restaurants across the island offering a vibrant and diverse variety of cuisine. Whether you wish to indulge a passion for gourmet French cuisine, eat a hearty Creole stew or simply sip cocktails and nibble on apeterifs as you look out across the bay, you are certain to find everything you are looking for in the eateries of St Barths.

Shopping – St Barths is a shopaholics dream! As a duty free port, the island boasts a range of elegant and designer shops (Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Hermes and Cartier to name but a few) as well as several shopping centres, and is a haven for those wishing to indulge in a day (or two) of retail therapy

Spas – The island is home to several excellent spas, which only enhance its reputation as an island where people come to truly relax. A range of treatments and massages are offered at several independent spas, while most hotel spas also welcome outside visitors.

Sailing & water sports – Sailing, sea-scooters, motorboats and jet-skiing are just a few of the water-based activities on offer in St Barths; sailing enthusiasts in particular will be in their element, with several rental companies offering everything from lasers to catamarans. Regattas are frequent events, and are organised for almost any category.

Hiking – With its spectacular landscapes and beautiful coastline, hiking is great way to discover more of the awe-inspiring scenery of St Barths. A famous path will take you on an easy stroll from Petite Anse to the gorgeous bay of Colombier in less than half an hour, while those in the mood for more of a challenge can climb to the peak of Mount Vitet (286 metres high) and admire the island from above.

Museums and history – To find out more about the islands rich history, visit the Musee Territorial de St. – Barthélemy (also known as the St. Barts Municipal Museum) in Gustavia, located in an old stone house at the end of La Pointe. Exhibits relate to periods of French, Swedish and British occupation, in addition to displays of antique tools, ancestral costumes, models of Creole houses and boats, and a library.

Thank you for booking our French Caribbean self guided walking holiday to Guadeloupe and Martinique Travel With Jules adapted the original itinerary by Headwater (the operator) to suit our travel needs from Edinburgh and resolved a ridiculously unnecessary booking on a very early transfer flight at no extra cost to us when Headwater had raised a charge. All I can say is AWESOME!!!!!! The staff and other visitors at The Body Holiday were so friendly, I didn't feel uncomfortable as a solo traveller (after the first fifteen minutes of watching others obviously!) at all. The hosted communal evening meals were lively, friendly, interesting discussions with perfect strangers, several of whom I subsequently spent meal times with. The service was fantastic, the staff were friendly and I will definitely be looking to travel there again. I would also like to say thank you for putting me on to such a wonderful spot and I would love it if more places were so open to solo travellers and accommodating to different needs. All in all I would score it 10 out of 10!

Our holiday to Dominican Republic was a huge success, thank you! We loved the beautifully conceived "travel packs" that added a "wow" factor! The holiday was also a cloak-and-dagger operation for me to propose to Sophie. The hotel excelled itself on providing 10 restaurants with a la carte offerings - food was superb. Thank you for all your help in making this special holiday happen!

Everything was spot on. The second hotel was excellent - well recommended. Shirley heights on Sunday and the excellence 360 island trip are brilliant.

Cuba – what an amazing country ... the noise and bustle of Havanna, the cars, the history, the people, a place stopped in time, interesting scenery, history and culture and the most beautiful beaches!

Julie gave us an excellent service for our holiday to Barbados. She listened to our requirements, gave informed advice and provided more than we had asked for! We will use her again and will recommend her to family and friends.

Our Caribbean holiday to Antigua was fantastic!! The Inn at English Harbour was really beautiful, quiet and tranquil. Did some excellent snorkelling and a couple of tours as well. Absolutely perfect, certainly one of the best holidays we've had. Thank you so much for organising it, we'll be back for more!

It was lovely to have Jules to sort everything out for us, and it certainly meant that we could relax and get on with organising the other parts of our wedding safe in the knowledge that our honeymoon was being taken care of for us. Everything went as smoothly as it could be from start to finish, we had zero problems throughout.

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
