Bespoke Tailor Made Holidays & Honeymoons to Bahamas

The Bahamas, made up of around 700 tropical coral islands, are the most northerly of The Caribbean Islands.  Only about 30 of these are inhabited and there are another 1000 or so tiny islands or reefs which are known as cays.

This is undoubtedly one of the more luxurious and upmarket areas of the Caribbean, there being many celebrities and film makers having their own islands and resorts here.  If you want to flash the cash, hire your own private island for a few weeks!  There are inter-island plane connections and ferries or hire sailing boats to take you from island to island. The capital is Nassau which has fabulous nightlife and culture but if you prefer the outdoor life, there are plenty of golf courses and water sports. Head for Grand Bahama Island if you want to shop til you drop with duty free designer stores, china, crystal and jewellery shops.

The first people who lived on these islands were believed to come from Cuba and were followed by Lucayan Indians, who were living there when Christopher Columbus set out to explore this New World and landed on San Salvador in the Bahamas in 1492.  Early discoveries of bones, pottery and tools seem to indicate that the islands were first inhabited as early as 300 AD. The true ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ ruled the waves here from the late 1600s to the early 1700s and legends about pirates and treasure live on to this day. The Bahamas is part of the British Commonwealth, having become independent on 10 July 1973.

The food of the Bahamas has been influenced by many different cultures but focuses on spice and seafood. Conch meat, a large mollusc, is used cooked or raw with lime juice and spices and other favourites include land crabs and rock lobsters.  The use of plants as ‘bush medicine’ came to the Bahamas with slaves from Africa and there are over 100 plants growing on the islands that are commonly used as treatments to this day. You may come across parties of a traditional style while on the Bahamas – The Junkanoo is a traditional carnival with colourful costumes and catchy music.

For some outdoor nature experience the beauty of Grand Bahama Island with Kayak Nature Tours and paddle through the creeks and mangrove swamps.

Diving and snorkelling is fabulous in the crystal clear waters and experienced divers love the challenging wreck sites off the coast of San Salvador. There are many shark encounters, spectacular walls, blue holes and caves.

If you are looking for overseas Weddings or honeymoons then the Bahamas has plenty of options.  From traditional beach weddings to more unusual locations such as on a boat or your own Junkanoo festival can be arranged!

Thank you for booking our French Caribbean self guided walking holiday to Guadeloupe and Martinique Travel With Jules adapted the original itinerary by Headwater (the operator) to suit our travel needs from Edinburgh and resolved a ridiculously unnecessary booking on a very early transfer flight at no extra cost to us when Headwater had raised a charge. All I can say is AWESOME!!!!!! The staff and other visitors at The Body Holiday were so friendly, I didn't feel uncomfortable as a solo traveller (after the first fifteen minutes of watching others obviously!) at all. The hosted communal evening meals were lively, friendly, interesting discussions with perfect strangers, several of whom I subsequently spent meal times with. The service was fantastic, the staff were friendly and I will definitely be looking to travel there again. I would also like to say thank you for putting me on to such a wonderful spot and I would love it if more places were so open to solo travellers and accommodating to different needs. All in all I would score it 10 out of 10!

Our holiday to Dominican Republic was a huge success, thank you! We loved the beautifully conceived "travel packs" that added a "wow" factor! The holiday was also a cloak-and-dagger operation for me to propose to Sophie. The hotel excelled itself on providing 10 restaurants with a la carte offerings - food was superb. Thank you for all your help in making this special holiday happen!

Everything was spot on. The second hotel was excellent - well recommended. Shirley heights on Sunday and the excellence 360 island trip are brilliant.

Cuba – what an amazing country ... the noise and bustle of Havanna, the cars, the history, the people, a place stopped in time, interesting scenery, history and culture and the most beautiful beaches!

Julie gave us an excellent service for our holiday to Barbados. She listened to our requirements, gave informed advice and provided more than we had asked for! We will use her again and will recommend her to family and friends.

Our Caribbean holiday to Antigua was fantastic!! The Inn at English Harbour was really beautiful, quiet and tranquil. Did some excellent snorkelling and a couple of tours as well. Absolutely perfect, certainly one of the best holidays we've had. Thank you so much for organising it, we'll be back for more!

It was lovely to have Jules to sort everything out for us, and it certainly meant that we could relax and get on with organising the other parts of our wedding safe in the knowledge that our honeymoon was being taken care of for us. Everything went as smoothly as it could be from start to finish, we had zero problems throughout.

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
