Tailor Made Holidays & Honeymoons to Japan
Japan is a country like nothing else on earth! With a completely baffling language, very complex social etiquette and bizarre buildings and food, it certainly offers holidays outside of the normal Asia experience! Watch Joanna Lumley’s Japan on ITV in September 2016 for a wonderful insight to Japan and it’s crazy culture, exotic wildlife and unusual food experiences!
Mags has been to Japan and fallen in love with this beautiful country so give her a call to chat through your requirements for your own tailor made holiday to Japan! Take a read of the travel blogs below and see testimonials for more feedback from our clients who have been to Japan. Sitting in the Sea of Japan, east of Russia and South Korea, Japan is made up of a series of islands, Tokyo the capital sitting in the middle of Honshu island. It is stunningly beautiful with volcanic mountains, temples and gardens all surrounded by colourful people and culture. Each part of Japan has it’s own attractions, heritage sites and culinary delights. We will arrange for you to hire a local guide for a good insight to the culture and history of the country.
Tokyo is an energetic city with business districts and exclusive boutiques, sushi bars around Niohnbashi and plenty of shrines and temples within easy day trips. The centre of Japan around Honshu is the best place to head for outdoor sightseeing and hiking around the Japanese Alps. This region is the real rural Japan and a great cultural experience, offering you chance to meet the people and enjoy delicious food at the mountain inns. There are pretty traditional towns here such as Kamikochi and world heritage farmhouses and gardens. Cherry Blossom season is peak travel time in Japan but some say that the Autumn is even more spectacular with the carpets of reds and oranges across the hills and mountains as the gardens all turn to gold! See a special offer for Autumn 2016 or we can tailor make anything similar.
Kyoto and Kansai regions are the historic and cultural centres of Japan, both having World Heritage status with hundreds of gardens, temples and shrines. In Kyoto joing a community project and learn origami, calligraphy or home cooking. The Kii Peninsula is a good example of rural Japan meeting the Pacific Ocean with beautiful hot spring resorts and wellness spas to relax body and mind. This is a bit of an off the beaten track part of Japan so it’s a great place to meet people and explore.
To the south the Okinawa Islands stretch to Taiwan with a sub tropical climate and a slow pace of life. There are sandy beaches, coral reefs and clear water attracting divers and beach lovers. There are areas of jungle where you can find unusual wildlife and areas of the coast to whale watch.
For wildlife enthusiasts the Japanese Macaque (or Snow Monkey) is the highlight of a holiday to Japan. The best time to see them is in the middle of winter, January and February, so wrap up warm! The second half of February is also a good time to see the fabulous Red-crowned Cranes displaying. The Macaques are found a few hours by road from Tokyo in the snowy mountains of the north Nagano region. At Jigokudani hot springs you can find these snow monkeys warming themselves in the water of 50C. Temperatures outside often reach as low as -15C, so they are very happy wallowing in their hot bath!
Ask us to tailor make a holiday to Japan, there are plenty of good escorted tours and several adventure groups we can recommend, or we can tailor a private holiday to include exactly what you want for the length of time you want.
