Bespoke Tailor Made Holidays & Honeymoons to Borneo
The equatorial rainforests of Borneo are home to a diverse and beautiful range of wildlife species including hundreds of species of tropical birds, over a thousand types of orchid and mammals including many primates, the best known being the Orang Utan. This is a ‘must see’ destination for the wildlife enthusiast and adventurous traveller!
The island of Borneo is actually split between two countries, the northern regions of Sabah and Sarawak being part of Malaysia and the larger region of Kalimantan belonging to Indonesia. The kingdom of Brunei is wedged in the middle of the north coast surrounded by Malaysian Borneo.
Kuching is the main gateway from Malaysia and was the city of the White Rajahs and from here you can explore the jungles and forests with their amazing wildlife and fauna including the weird pitcher plants and of course the endearing Orang Utans. Many Orang sanctuaries exist in Borneo and you can take part in important conservation and volunteer work here, the most well known being at Sepilok.
At the other end of Malaysian Borneo is the main town of Kota Kinabalu, surrounded by gorgeous beaches and islands and over at Sandakan is access to turtle hatching beaches and islands.
In Kalimantan, the Indonesian side of Borneo, travel is difficult as this is an area little explored. It is however a great option for the adventurous traveller with many isolated tribes, pristine jungles, orang-utans and probiscis monkeys. Follow in the footsteps of 19th century explorer Wallace who travelled this region in the mid 1980s and reported back his own theories of evolution. I really enjoyed Bill Bailey on BBC TV in spring 2013 as he showed us the natural history of the Malay archipelago and the wonderful wildlife that Wallace discovered here.
Ask me to put together a tailor made holiday to Borneo for you, in a group, private, on foot or by boat, visit this wonderful tropical jungle paradise and say hello to the Orang-Utans!
in summary, Jules, you were excellent again. The trip up the Kinabantagan River was possibly not as exciting as I had hoped, but I saw what I have always wanted to see (actually the Proboscis monkeys rather than the Orang Utans) in the wild, the guides very knowledgeable and the Malayan people absolutely delightful.

One of the things I have come to love about you, Jules, is that you listen and take on board what makes me tick, and then tailor the holiday to fit me, not just try to convince me to fit a holiday in a brochure!
