Why you should take your family to Malawi!

Jules worked in Malawi (and neighbouring South Luangwa National Park in Zambia) for a few years and having worked all over Africa, always says that these two countries are her favourite places in the world!

Malawi is known as 'the warm heart of Africa' and it really is!  It may be one of the world's poorest countries but it's definitely in the top ten friendliest!  Wherever you go you are greeted by smiling faces and people happy to share their homes and lives with you.  There are no motorways and there are regions where there are no cars!  The people are as beautiful as the scenery and your children will love interaction with local families of their own age - and they love sharing a game of football with you!

Lake Malawi is home to some excellent beach hotels and lodges offering water sports and activities or just a beautiful place to relax and unwind.  Kaya Mawa on Likoma island is a favourite, and although it is most popular for honeymooners and couples it is very family friendly and has private family chalets and something for all ages!  Here is a recently featured Telegraph Article by Fiona Bruce explaining why your family would love Kaya Mawa and Lake Malawi! Did you ever think you could take your teenagers on a holiday where there is no wi-fi and for them to be happy?!

Mumbo Island Kayaks

If you have an active family then Malawi has a huge range of holiday experiences for you.  Climb Mount Mulanje, hike the Livingstonia Trail from Nyika to the lake, take a boat safari on the Shire River, ride horses on the beach, kayak in clear waters from Nkwichi, snorkel around Mumbo Island, try water skiing, wake boarding, hobby cats or diving ... to name just a few!

Zambia is also a fabulous choice for families and South Luangwa has some family chalets and even a huge private villa for large family groups or friends.  Ask Jules to create your own bespoke family safari or holiday to Malawi!
